Default Free Movie: Rememory (with Peter Dinklage from Game of Thrones) - Google Play

Can't beat free, and you're getting this ahead of its September 8th theatrical release (select theaters only).

Quote:
REMEMORY was written by Michael Vukadinovich and Mark Palansky and produced by Daniel Bekerman and Lee Clay. The film explores the unexplained death of Gordon Dunn (Martin Donovan), a visionary scientific pioneer whose body is found shortly after the unveiling of his newest work: a device able to extract, record and play a person’s memories. Gordon’s wife, Carolyn (Julia Ormond – Mad Men, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Legends of the Fall), retreats into her house and cuts off contact with the outside world when a mysterious man (Peter Dinklage – Game of Thrones, X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Station Agent) shows up. After stealing the machine, he uses it to try and solve the mystery, beginning an investigation of memories that lead him to unexpected and dangerous places.

Great timing with this offer. I just watched the trailer a couple of nights ago and was thinking to myself "what a great movie!"

I just watched this. Really good movie! I don't understand the criticism. A well done mystery/drama. I won't spoil it, but it has a heck of a twist you won't see coming. Like with Tyrion, Dinklage gives a great performance as a sympathetic character.

Good song featured in the movie (sort of important):

I love what Google Play does with their original movies, obviously making them free for a limited time, and usually putting them in theaters in the big markets, and later having a physical release for people who want that (so much better than Netflix).

Granted their movies haven't been the best so far (just seen their animated ones, though the live action ones have pretty weak reviews it seems), but I'll always grab them and probably will watch sometime given the free value.

I thought the movie was okay, but that's about it. Probably nothing I would watch again. As for the "twist", I absolutely saw it coming. If you've ever seen, well, any movie ever, you can predict that from very early on.

[Show spoiler]You predicted that the Doctor's daughter died due to the crash that Dinklage's character caused?

The dots might have been given, but I didn't connect them. I don't think it was obvious. If they had hinted that she died in a car crash, I'm sure I would have made the connection, but I really didn't see any relation between those events. Maybe I was too caught up with the main mystery of who killed the Doctor. I actually believed Dinklage's story when he said he met the Doctor in a bar and he saved him from killing himself.

Regardless, I still think it was a pretty good movie, even if I were to have seen the twist coming. It's not like the greatest thing put to film, but it was well executed little movie with some nice performances. Looking at some of the criticism, I guess some people expected or wanted it to be a Total Recall-type action/sci-fi, instead of a slow-paced psychological thriller/emotional drama. It's not something I would watch again, but I was never bored by it and thought it well done.
