I had an Alienware laptop before I built my desktop and it got super hot when playing games. The newer mobile gpu's don't get as hot now but I would still assume the laptop would get pretty warm during gaming sessions. That is one of the main reasons I wanted a desktop plus the ability to upgrade is very limited when dealing with laptops.

When I last built my new gaming PC I got the best, most expensive card at the time (I'm ignoring the Titan) - GTX 1080.

I got such a card as I had just bought Fallout 4 and wanted to run it at the highest possible resolution.

Fast forward to now, where I have yet to start playing the game (just haven't got around to it) and they just announced the 1080 Ti, and dropped the price of my card by almost half.
