Default Official Indy Car Racing Thread

We have both NASCAR and F1 threads but no Indy.

I used to be huge into Nascar, but like so many others, I've lost interest in it over the years. I still watch a race here and there and root for Kevin Harvick. But I've taken a larger interest in other leagues.

Any other Indy fans here? Anyone been to a race?

I grew up 15 minutes from Sam Hornish; one hell of a driver. Was always a Tony Stewart fan and would love to see him race in the Indy 500 in the future. It's one of few things he's never won.

I figured an IRL thread would be quite dead even though the actual racing is some of the best around, but...whatever. Anyway, I think the 2018 cars are pretty freakin' sweet looking.

I attend Indy every year, and it's a blast. Usually, my daughter comes with, but that wasn't in the cards this year. Was a good race this year, in it's own way. Waiting on the new car and new engine to show up...and then watch the track records fall.

My dad took me to my first '500 in 1965 where I got to see the great Jim Clark (from F1) spank the entire field in the beautiful Lotus. Since then I have only missed 2 '500's, both for graduation ceremonies, and I have maintained my seats in E Stand for ages. This year's '500 was OK but it could have used a little more passing ... hopefully they will tweak the new aero kit to allow cars to follow a little more closely in order to make a pass.

I'm betting that they will. There was a ton of 3 wide passing that was fun to watch. I usually sit in the Paddock (outside front stretch), but missed on this years' seats. Going to try and get a little further down towards T1 for next year.

Texas was a good race, too. Don't mind seeing Dixon win...poor Carpenter taken out by Wickens, that was probably about the bonehead move of the race on Robert's part. Wasn't any kind of clear for a move like that.
