I'm thrilled this is finally happening, as Twin Peaks is my all time favorite show. I'm wondering if CBS managed to license Fire Walk With Me for this set? Recently, Warner Archive said that FWWM was coming, but not from them...that could mean they licensed it out to CBS for a complete series set. And recently Mark Frost has made some noise about the deleted scenes finally becoming legally unentangled. That would be a dream come true.

Also, USC School for the Cinematic Arts have been screening the entire series and the movie, with Q&A's with the cast and crew following the screenings. The Q&A's were professionally recorded, and they really should be included on these discs. Stories were told at these that even a die-hard Peaks fan like me had never heard before. I would say 80% of the original cast was re-united for these. (notable no-shows were Michael Ontkean, Joan Chen, Richard Beymer, Lara Flynn Boyle and Sherilyn Fenn, who was scheduled but cancelled twice) You can view most of the Q&A's at this link (although the last three have yet to be posted) I was lucky enough to attend the one with Kyle MacLachlan in attendance.

I'm so happy "Twin Peaks" comes finally to Blu (and that Firefly already is!).

This would've been the best news of the year had it not been for the imminent 3D release of The Wizard of Oz.

Go Munchkins.

YES!!!! I just bought the Gold set in December (which I think I've already made my money's worth with) but I will gladly double dip. Hell, I'm thinking about buying cheap copies of the season 1 and 2 sets for the special features.

Anyways, this will be a day 1 purchase for me. I'll hold off on buying FWWM just in case it's in this set.

I suppose I'm in eventually, once it's heavily discounted ($30?) on Amazon. I've already double-dipped on the DVD, so in no rush for now.

You'll have to keep your republic set for the extra's anyway. I guess the blu will mostly be a replication of the definitive edition.

Any news on whether it will be in 4:3 or 16x9 aspect ratio? I know it originally aired on 4:3, but I don't know how it was filmed.

Spherical 35 according to imdb.com, which I believe means to present it 16x9 they would have to crop. God help them... (though I'm confident Lynch would not let it happen)

The HD remasters were done in 4:3, as per the original aspect ratio.

I wonder if this is to coincide with the relaunch of Twin Peaks that's supposed to be coming back to Television in the near future. It'd sure help so that those that don't have the series on DVD and would like the blu-rays can get them to catch up.

Considering that 16x9 TVs weren't out in 1990, it was filmed the way it was shown, at 4:3.

I'm curious to see if the rumors about X-Files being an upconvert are true. If so, beware the fans storming the castle.

The special effects were always going to be the big holdup for that series. Worst case scenario, they are upconverted. We're only talking about a few scenes in the first couple of seasons. I think I can live with that, if it means everything else in HD. It's not like Fox will be revisiting this series any time soon.
Like with Twin Peaks, if it happens, at least give us some new bonus content to make up for these potential shortcomings.
