Warner Bros Gravity (2013) 4K UHD

Since this hasn't been posted in this sub-forum I thought I would mention it. A couple of days ago it was reported by a member in the Australian sub-forum, that this is currently listed on Roadshow's release sheets, for the 6th of September.

Will be VERY happy to get this on UHD, never been too fond of the BD. HDR on this should look great, too.

Why? The BD is stunning and demo material.

It's surprisingly decent for what it is, a very bitstarved encode, but the UHD should look even better and I'm all over this like white on rice.

I may have to stick with that super-slick Diamond Edition with Atmos. Will be interesting to see what (if any) extras come with the UHD version since they were all on a separate (BD) disc.

A 3D film without 3D? No UHD can compensate for this.

Been a couple of years since I watched it but I remember finding it kinda noisy, with a little banding. Nothing truly bad, just disappointing, given how much better it could've been. It's a WB disc, so that's kinda their M.O. But in terms of audio, yeah it's demo material. No argument there.

I have the Diamond Luxe discs but haven't watched them yet, I dunno if they're any better PQ-wise.

Yep, I'm definitely a UHD devotee, but native 3D movies stay in 3D in my house.

Sad but definitely true for me too.

Just finished watching Resident Evil Afterlife and despite the excellent PQ, I did not enjoy this as much as the 3D version.

Agreed that this movie definitely improves in 3D, but since I'm no longer set up for it, I'll go UHD now.

Awesome news if it comes to a UHD release. I love that movie including its soundtrack. Would love Bullock on the front cover and Clooney on the back or both facing each other on the front. Something like that.

You know this was a conversion, right? At least the live-action elements.

Enough of it is native for it to count as native in my book.

I didn't like the noise either. This type of movie should crystal clear. They should have shot digital instead of film. Hdr will likely make the grain worse in some spots.

99% of the film was shot digitally on Alexa Classic, which I believe was a 2.8k. Only the end scene on Earth was filmed in 65mm film. And 2k DI.

Imbd lists both 35mm and 65mm. After a few years, the data should accurate right?

IMDb is right. It only shows digital and 65mm source. It shows 35mm as a printed format, meaning they made a few 35mm theatrical prints to send to theaters. I bet those were rare.
