I don't think that there is any release that doesn't have some sort of issue.
Very rarely do they bother to correct them.

ZyuRanger's colours are off.
Hackers' has Red Push and downgraded Audio
Army of Darkness was missing footage but was one of the few rekeases fixed.
There were multiple issues with the Halloween set. Some were fixed some weren't.
Transformers: The Japanese Collection had bad PQ... I don't think this one is their fault though.
Transformers: The Movie was colour timed wrong. It is too dark.
The compression on the Power Rangers DVDs aren't/isn't that good. They crammed 10 episodes per disk. Saban released their own DVD years ago of just one episode, the first episode: Day of the Dumpster and it looked great! Shout's release leaves a lot to be desired.

So yeah, I hope they don't get the license to release the BD or the UHD (which would be $60, because they are always over-priced)

The $10 Universal Blu-ray of Halloween III has a better encode than the $20 SF disc. For some reason, just about all of their releases tend to look soft, and lacking in grain and detail.

Don't they both have an encode of MPEG-4 though? And it's funny you should say that, I thought it was the complete opposite since the blu-ray of something like Return of the Living Dead was extremely grainy.

They have more/less come a long way from their initial releases Halloween 2/3 in 2012 to what they've been putting out the last couple of years such as Return of the Living Dead. Their encoding has improved somewhat and they've been less likely to apply filters, etc.

Yes, I will give credit where credit is due. They seem to have stepped up their game recently with titles like The Thing, Carrie, and Black Christmas (though this was afflicted by an audio issue). But then they go and release something like Red Dawn, and I'm reminded of why I'm always skeptical of them.

It might not come from Shout Factory, it would have to be Fox. I sent SF a tweet and they responded saying it was up to Fox since they have the rights.

Yeah, I just figured I'd check since Shout did the MMPR box set. Good to know though, I would imagine Fox is more likely to release it in 4K.

Wow it has been quite some time since I purchased a shout/scream factory disc but im always happy with the end product when i do. I might have to pick up some newer titles and see what all these complaints are about. as for rangers not sure how good it would look on blu or 4K but it would have to be better than the awful full frame DVD thats out there now

Thanks, though it is the wrong movie.
Amazon.de also has the UHD up. It has been for a while.

I'm currently watching the new master on Amazon through their HBO subscription(HBO got the new scan, which I didn't know about until today). Even though it's through streaming, the difference from the old master is huge. Barely any dirt or scratches, colors are improved, text is sharp(the Star Wars text crawl opening). The Logo of the film didn't look too good, has that upscaled look to it around the edges. Without the streaming compression the positives I've seen so far will look even better. Now if only Fox could get enough incentive to release it...

That's really good to hear.
My emails to FOX seem to be going unanswered.

Finished it about an hour ago, overall it's a great new master. There are some iffy looking shots here and there, like they had to use other sources to fill those scenes. But nothing that would stop me from buying it on Blu-ray, anything is better than the DVD. Here are some random screen shots from the stream(hooked my computer up to the TV), I hope these show the improvements, some better than others. Just try to imagine them without compression. lol

Best I've ever seen it look, the old HDTV master was rubbish.
Definitely not expecting a physical UHD release, but a 1080p disc would be nice.

Emails without a response I don't get that upset about, but a Facebook message that lets you know the person has seen the message and is just ignoring you gets me pissed. lol This is why I wish smaller companies like Shout! Factory would be allowed to get the licensing for this. They actually care about what people want.

Shout would screw up the video or audio... hell, maybe even both.
I'm glad they can't get it!

The few I have from them, Child's Play, Carrie & Death Becomes Her(OK, not the best one but better than nothing lol ) look & sound great to me. So I wouldn't mind having them release this
