Because shortly after a console generation is over it becomes virtually impossible to buy games through channels that'll provide revenue to the original creators. Furthermore, when we're talking NES and SNES games some of the companies that made them have been shuttered for decades. It doesn't matter if you buy a legit second-hand cart or download a Rom, either way the original dev isn't seeing any of that cash. On the whole movies don't have that problem as they tend to carry over from format to format. One could say though that it is unethical to emulate the games on these Nintendo plug'n'plays though, because for the time being they ARE available from official channels, so they potentially could be taking money away from the original creators. Anyway, that's generally why people are okay with Roms of old games and aren't okay with pirated films. Whether that logic is right or wrong isn't for me to say. But that's why.

One and only warning! This site has a no piracy rule, that includes any and all discussion. It wouldn't fly in the movie threads around here so it shouldn't in the gaming threads either.

considering how sought after that was, they know the demand is there and can easily launch this at $100 minimum and get away with it. All those units will sell out and considering theres a good chance they'll manufacture in limited quantities they wont have to worry about stock that doesnt move

They'll probably use proprietary connectors this time too, or maybe require internet access for check-ins.

Gonna pre-order 10 of those suckers in different stores this time so I wont miss lol

Seriously, why is that every new device that comes out some people have the urge of I must alter this and add stuff on, this was one of the reasons we cant have the nes classic now (at least the ones who didn't grabbed one yet).

This is actually a Nintendo item I want for Christmas. I loved the SNES as a kid. I passed on the NES classic, but would not pass on a SNES classic - due to nostalgia and other factors. I always liked the games on SNES vs. NES more too.

One game I would have liked on here is Final Fight, but I don't see it on the list, if it is the true list.

However, I loved Mario Allstars and Mario World, so would love those in a heartbeat. Earthbound is an interesting choice - and a great one! I also like the idea of Turtles in Time being on here; used to play it at the arcade back when people still went.

A SNES classic? For me, it's a buy! I just hope I can get in on the pre-order period. I'll be waiting around right after E3 to check.

One, there is no list yet, and two, if they follow the release of the NES, I dont think there will be a preorder period.

Of course, E3 isn't the be all and end all of gaming news.

I don't think it's coming. The Switch Virtual Console will probably be the reason.

I dont know. All signs point to it coming, why did they prematurely stop production on the nes classic when it was still selling well?

Also about a month or so ago when one of the gaming sites, cant remember which one, asked nintendo if they are making a super nes classic said"we cant comment on that right now. That proves to me its coming. If it doesnt come, why would nintendo make a comment like that? That would just be bizarre.

Because Legal has told them not to comment could be liability reasons if they ever do decide to make the system. Now if you want to say it looks like they intend to make the SNES classic due to how the NES classic performed and various sites have suggested its already in development that I will buy. The No Comment thing when you simply dont know or cant say is a very common thing used its PR 101.

more like this is the reason why the Switch doesn't have VC games yet
