I do have to wonder why if Disney isn't going to release a 4K bluray why Best Buy but up a few different versions of the movie with a 4K disc in the description. I mean if it's not being released in 4K that seems pretty dumb on Best Buy's part.

BB is advertising the Spider-Man digibook release as a "two-disc set" and it has a photo that clearly shows 4 discs in it. THey can't look at a picture of 4 discs and figure how many discs are in the set and we are basing Disney is starting to go UHD based on their listing?

Best buy didn't create the Spider-man listing though

They currently list the wrong number of discs and every other retailer has the correct number!

And where is the new Target ad 6/11-6/17 ?? LOL

I'm dying to see if they advertise the Spider-Man digibook.

You guys usually get us those ads earlier -- just my luck as I have been waiting on pins and needles for the Spider-Man info.

I know what you're saying but best buy didn't create the listings for either spider-man set. I am currently working on it right now.

Oh, I was referring to your early TARGET AD thread-- which is wonderful for obsessive folks like myself!

it also has a beautiful Dolby Atmos mix, that will undoubtedly be included on the UHD

That there are a couple 4K options makes it seem like the real deal. We all knew it was coming soon, so it's not crazy.

Default Dolby Vision :: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2

curious :: any information regarding whether Dolby Vision is featured?
for myself :: fantastic title, but without Dolby Vision; i personally will not consider purchasing :: (yes :: i think it's extremely important, especially for this remarkable film, that would benefit immensely from 'premium picture quality - far more than most others)

James Gunn essentially said it would have a Dolby Vision encode for a UHD home release, if one indeed happened. Now that it looks like it is happening, it should have Dolby vision. I expect Disney to embrace the premium HDR format. It's a shame there is still no Dolby Vision on 4K projectors, still hasn't been a way for companies to add it yet, Dolby's still working on it, I think.

I'm going to buy an Optima DLP 4K projector in a few months, it'll be my first 4K setup. They haven't released the specs as far as HDR, but I hope it has HDR10 at least. Anyway, on a 4K projector at least I'll get extra detail in those native 4K transfers. I might wait and get a Microsoft Scorpio as my UHD player. I'm not sure if it's even getting Dolby Vision. Eventually I'll get an OLED once they work out the kinks. I want real RGB OLED wit TADF emitters. I want impressive HDR, it's not just about having Dolby Vision. Dolby Vision is gonna look good on the Sony Z9D, when they release the fm update.

BB being the source is worrisome but good news if true, especially as a 4k/3d pack. SW 4K would be Day 1 for me - hopefully we could finally get all the extras in one place though so I could finally get rid of the dvd special feature discs. I think this would be my first quintuple buy.

Yeah it does seem like the newer Disney and Marvel Studio movies are the ones that would be the first to come out in a 4K disc. Unless it is like 3D. Only the Marvel Studio movies come out in 4K and the Disney movies don't come out in 4K that much.

You're assuming that the UHD BDs would have the same issues as they previous DVDs and Blu-rays.

If Lucasfilm spent the time to fully restore the original trilogy they will look better than they've ever been seen. No garbage mattes, luminosity issues, black crush, and other boo-boos> Digital compositing is so good these days. Just look at the difference between what we saw during The Next Generations initial run and what the Blu-rays offer. It's basically all from the same source, it's just the technology that put it all together has moved on exponentially.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is already coming. Isn't that enough Mary Poppins for you?

All UHDs have HDR 10, so the only question is will they also include Dolby. I would guess they will.
