Aside from the cover art, I remember next-to-nothing about this one. The description sounds better than than the trailer looks.

It'll be the same master that the German release used.

I'm not a professional when it comes to PQ/AQ but, for a film like this it definitely looked pretty good and had good sound to my ears and eyes.

Cancelled my Amazon pre-order, switched to Best Buy...and Best Buy just shipped it.

...super fast turnaround for a disc coming out next week.

I was told that any DNR that was applied in Germany was done after the fact.

Our release has both the 1.78:1 and the 2.35:1. In my humble opinion, the 1.78:1 looked great (it was slightly better than the 2.35:1) and these did not seem to be DNR'd to death. I even posted a frame grab on the MVD Rewind facebook page a while back.

I didn't notice any issues with the transfer but I've never been one to over-analyze and sometimes mistakenly dismiss a technical anomaly as "inherent" flaws or quirks of the original photography when it reality, according to the better-trained armchair experts, they're actually things like poor compression or some artifact that was missed. I can spot overuse of DNR better than I used to, though. PQ here looked decent IMO, no wax job, thankfully, but I have not watched the whole film - just skimmed through parts of it. I'm happy with it.

Another day, another review by Jeffrey Kauffman where he shows that he knows nothing about 2.0 Stereo (LtRt).

Once again, 2.0 Stereo IS surround sound (LCRS). The center and surround channels are baked into the mix and need only be opened up by pressing the Dolby Pro Logic button on your receiver. This is not an opinion or a 'preferred' way to watch, this is fact.

Never seen this but have always wanted to check it out. Hopefully they can acquire Split Second as well.
