I actually kinda liked Part III on my most recent rewatch. Part II still wins though, with the original just a micro-mini-practically invisible step lower.

I still haven't watched III, which is a surprise even to me, as the first film is one of my favorites. II just doesn't have the same magic to me. Maybe that's even overstating it... Part I is like Coca-Cola out of a glass bottle made with real sugar, Part II is like Coca-Cola out of a plastic bottle. Not quite a good, but it's still Coke. Love Part II, but the original is just so dang good.

Yeah I still like 3. For me 1 is still my favourite but think 2 is the best overall movie.

The three films chronicle story of Michael Corleone until his death. Of course, the first one is a work of art and is sheer perfection in movie-making. The second one is great with the story of Vito being told during Michael's reign.

I thought the third was fitting. After everything that happened throughout the first two, he would die sad and alone.

I love watching the three back to back.

Well, he shouldn't have filmed a what-if then.

It's canon as far as I'm concerned.

Coppola himself said it’s more of an epilogue than an actual sequel, so that tracks. He wanted to call it The Death of Michael Corleone but Paramount (understandably) said no. Just wish they hadn’t made FFC and Puzo rush to meet a release date. Give them time, give them money... this thing could’ve been another masterpiece. Oh well.

Didn't Coppola make 3 because he needed the money?

Trilogy only for me. You don't watch just one - you have to watch all three! And yes I do love the third one as well despite it not being up to the other two of course.

I've been getting less and less interested in buying 4k releases lately...

...until this announcement.

Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.

Iíll be disappointed if itís just the first. III is actually my favorite (I know, I know) and itís gonna suck to have to finish the trilogy on BD after watching this one.

Part 3 isn’t canon to me in the same sense that The Matrix 2 and 3 aren’t canon. Yesssss I know, they technically are, but I choose to pretend that they don’t exist and The Matrix ends with the original and that The Godfather ends with a pensive, empty, and perhaps regretful Michael Corleone.

Perfection.

Yeah, he's admitted he was broke and he mainly did the movie for the money. If he had been in better shape financially he would have had more leverage to fight for more money to get Robert Duvall to return and a longer writing/shooting schedule so it wasn't so rushed.

Dang, The Godfather, Ben-Hur, Lawerence of Arabia, Scarface, the Star Trek trilogy, War of the Worlds, and the Front Runner all in one day. This is shaping up to be a great morning.

Just give me all three please.

What do you mean? Separate release dates for 1 and 2/3?

I've got the same thing going on in my head with the Star Wars OT. The original was made without the sequels in mind, so I watch it as such. I love the other two as well, but it's a fun way to watch it.
