I wouldn't expect much until next year at the very least. The people working on it made it clear progress will be slower than the other projects.

When they were doing the “roadshow” screenings a couple years ago, I remember there was someone who swore that the color, contrast, and grain were nothing like the blu-rays.

Of course it was identical in terms of content, which is exactly why, even if I had nothing better to do, I would never pay to see these movies in a theater on the off-chance that it might be from the 4k master.

Not interested in seeing this on the big screen, unless, it’s the original theatrical edits

That actually could be true-- "most recently remastered" could just be a fancy way of saying "whatever the last release was."

In which case, it's a good thing the bar will be open all night.

I can’t for the life of me figure out how Disney will not license anything to us that is not current release, and then this theatre puts up a show like this. Do they just forego the license part and pray the mouse house doesn’t come down on them? I get incredibly frustrated everytime I see something like this.

I would guess sometime after Episode IX hits stores in April of next year. The earliest we would actually see it would probably be the holidays of 2020. Just my best speculation, though.

the reason I ask is because I heard the effects of the prequels are being redone for the rumored 4k release I know I know the prequels aren't great but I like them really just episode 3

Where did you read/hear that the FX are being redone for the Prequels? And if so, can we start a petition to have Hayden Christenson replaced if they are already working on redoing things?

I remember hearing that rumor too, but that might’ve been in regards to the 3D versions, not the UHD. The dimensionalization of the PT was apparently finished several years ago, but AotC and RotS have only been seen in stereo at fan conventions.

Now that the 4k restoration of the OT is finished, does anyone think Disney will actually pay to convert it into 3D as well? George might want some say in the matter, sure, but I could see Kennedy bringing him in to at least view and sign off on the finished product. I’ve heard the going rate for post-converting a two hour movie is around ten million dollars, so we’d be talking $30 million to do the whole trilogy. It might be worth their investment, especially with Avatar 2 hitting screens across the globe in a little over two and a half years. Even if they’re not done with the conversion by then (a full year seems to be the amount of time needed for a quality conversion just for one movie, nevermind three), they could still have enough for a trailer.
