Default The Spasmo Video thread

One of the coolest but less known boutique labels is Spasmo Video of Italy. They are curating an awesome collection of international indie horror and gore films with an obvious eye for quality. I first became aware of them from their Blu-ray release of Cat Sick Blues, one of the best indie horror films of the last few years; their Blu-ray is the only pressed Blu-ray (as opposed to BD-R) of this title worldwide and includes a bonus DVD of short films from the director.

This thread will compile all their releases for discerning collectors of no-budget horror and trash cinema.

Spasmo accommodates international collectors by including English subtitles on, as far as I'm aware, all the foreign-language titles they release.

I'll add database links to all of these titles in the upcoming days, but some of them aren't in the database yet, so I have to add them first.

DVD

To be added:

Absolutio
Nails
Philosophy of a Knife
Polymorph
Visions of Suffering

Blu-ray

Well, this hasn't been the most popular thread, but I appreciate it. I grabbed 3 of the blus on ebay direct from Italy, all of them except Inbred because I found the German blu cheaper. I received 2 of them already. I'm very happy to get a blu version of Gutterballs to upgrade my DVD. 100 Tears is pretty fun also.

Looking forward to checking out Cat Sick Blues and seeing what they release next.

I'm a little surprised at how little interest there's been, but I created it as much for my own reference as anything. I recently bought this bundle of 8 Spasmo DVDs from Amazon.it. With shipping to the US, it cost $85.

When I get around to it, I'm going to add the titles from Spasmo's Home Movies sub-label, which has put out De Generazione (1994), among other things.

I'll be interested to hear what you think of Cat Sick Blues. I was really impressed with it.

Today Spasmo posted the cover art for their upcoming release of Portrait of Andrea Palmer, a new film that was co-directed by Joe Rubin AKA John Lyons of Vinegar Syndrome.

Nice art, I'll just stick to my preorder for the US release though.

IMDb lists the director as Joe Rubin, the Spasmo DVD lists the director as John Lyons. You be the judge.
