I agree! I really want to see Good Bye Lenin on Blu. It might be possible. It is a Sony title afterall.

I'd like to see "Zentropa" and "Hamsum" on blu, although I'm not certain that either would strictly qualify as "German Cinema". I think both were made by a consortium of European companies.

I think Ernst Jacobi's brief portrayal of Hitler in "Hamsum" creeped me out more than any other performance of Hitler that I've ever seen, although there's no doubt that Ganz was quite good in "Downfall".

Never heard of either, but now I am intrigued to check them out both!

Speaking of Lars von Trier it would be wonderful if we can get Dogville, Manderlay, and Breaking the Waves on BD (uncut versions of course).

So other than the four titles I posted, there are none others that are scheduled for a release? I guess Das Boot is the only one that may get a release later this year. Still no schedule for that.

I wonder when Concorde, Constantin Film, Herbst and Universal Deutschland (am I missing any other major German film studios?) are going to start announcing German-made titles. I wonder if they will at all before 2008 is over.

How does the street price of BD's in Germany compare to Amazon.de? I'm wondering if I should just buy them online (expensive postage but without German sales tax) or in actual stores (Saturn or Mediamarkt?)?

Out of experience Amazon has the cheapest prices!!
Have been to Germany in 2006 and stocked up on some DVDs, most I bought online though, because there was such a big price difference. However, when there are sales going on, you might find some titles cheaper in stores or in some kind of bargain bins (those are mostly older releases though)
I also ordered from www.froeschl.de which is www.temeon.de now. Also good prices, bit slower shipping than Amazon though.

I finally got my (expensive) order from Amazon de. I really enjoy Neues vom Wixxer (although I haven't finished it yet). I especially like that it takes place in 60's England. The picture & sound quality are excellent. I decided to try my first screen shots. It didn't turn out too well.

Wixxer is only one out of two German films released on BD in Germany.

Oh, und wie heißt "bargin bin" oder "bargin selection" auf Deutsch?

Looks pretty damn good to me!
I got the DVD about 2 weeks ago, love the movie!!
If I get to buy a region b PS3 this is definitely one title I'll pick up!

What kind of audio options does it have?
I suppose another release without english subtitles though?

^ The film is region free!!

Audio: Deutsch DTS HD 5.1
Untertitel: Deutsch für Hörgeschädigte

Ich habe gedacht, dass du Deutscher bist? Ist dass dir egal, dass es keinen Englisch Untertitel hat?

I would love love to see the Herzog/Kinski films on blue, especially Aguirre, the Wrath of God and Fitzcarraldo.

And more Tom Tykwer - Princess and the Warrior!

The old Herzog movies would need some serious cleaning up first. I just watched Aguirre not too long ago and the transfer on the DVD Is quite bad!

But I agree those would be great on BD and definitely end up in my collection.

I'd also love to see Bang Boom Bang by Peter Thorwarth.

Hmm... I guess those 2 are must have titles then

German PS3 and movies will be a bit too much right now! Rather wait a few months to see if the prices will drop, or at least the exchange rate...
But until then! I shall place an order on amazon.de today.

I tried screen shots again today using a camera on a LCD screen. This size was originally much larger but Photobucket resized them.

Wow! Thanks for the screenshots!!
So far this looks pretty good, just hope that the story won't suffer too much.
I recently watched Hui Buh, which was ok. Hope this one will be better though!
Pretty weird to see this kind of animation work in a German made movie!

Anyone know whether Welcome to Jungle is really region 2 like it says at Amazon?

http://www.amazon.de/Welcome-Jungle-...911632&sr=1-29

It looks like theirs isn't censored but the regular blu-ray region code site doesn't list it. I think I've read (here) that Amazon isn't a reliable with this type info so that's why I'm asking.
