The turtle scene in Cannibal Holocuast, the turtle was eaten after and was killed a manner similar to natives I read, and the genuine rabbit killing was a professional job, similar say to how you'd prepare a chicken for eating. |

Horsefalls are banned today so what purpose is served by cutting them out of 50 year old westerns is a mystery. They've been done , they've been filmed so editing it out won't change anything except stop studios from releasing certain films here because they can't be arsed to make a special version just to cater for the UK. (Isn't this why Soldier Blue remains unreleased here?) And what is all this nonsense about 88films offers not being available to UK residents. Anyone would think HMV was a thriving company or one that sold online. Last edited by stuartalex; 03-14-2015 at 12:01 AM. |

Exactly. I don't think the animals will feel better for knowing that they'll be eaten after their snuff murder. The BBFC used to be consistent on their interpretation of the 1937 act... now they've lost the plot.

That's only for the slipcase versions of the first two Toxic Avenger movies. HMV have those editions as exclusives, which I assume is down to a deal made with 88 Films. If there's a contractual agreement, they can't really go back on that, but they can still sell those items themselves to overseas customers. Also, those films are £7.99 each in HMV, so you are actually better off if you have a local branch to go to.

Any chance 88 Films can release Wes Craven's Swamp Thing:
Both cuts would be great: PG version and International version with more of Addrianne's boobies. |

I pre-ordered the next set of 88 Films releases in HMV a couple of days ago. I asked about The Bogey Man, but they couldn't find it. Is it down as The Boogey Man on the system? If so, I'll pop in on Monday and pre-order it
I phoned up a few days ago about Slaughterhouse and was told that it would be in last Saturday. It wasn't, and when I phoned them up again at the beginning of the week, they said they had some coming in this Saturday, but they were for other customers, and that I'd have to wait longer I then get a phonecall on Thursday afternoon to say they got my copy in. I left work slightly early and went to pick it up :-) |

88 ship titles from their online store as soon as they get stock in, which is usually 1-2 weeks before the release date.

This type of material is banned from being produced everywhere now so I see no point in cutting it at all but if they are going to censor movies then either be consistent or just leave it intact as cutting it out serves no purpose whatsoever. The cutting of horsefalls that we used to see on tv 30 or 40 years ago but now we can't is ridiculous. The killings in all the cannibal movies are abhorrent but they happened decades ago. Editing them out won't bring them back. It's irritating that the BBFC hide behind some wordplay rather than speak straight. They continue to cut content from R18 material that has been cleared by courts of law on more than one occasion as not being obscene yet justify the cuts as being "their current interpretation of the Obscene Publications Act" - the same act that was used to ban many of these films in the 80's. Clearly their interpretation does not match the judicial system. Its only because most people charged with certain content don't fight so it goes down as a win for the BBFC or the OPA. Yet when people have fought and won they pay no attention and ignore the results. You can bet your bottom dollar if it went the other way they'd be editing material straight away |
