Just got mine from Bull Moose today. Survived the journey well, even though - as has been noted - it's surprisingly weighty for it's size.

The 5.1 remix of F%king Åmål wasn't very good in my opinion. Perhaps because the film was made in Stereo

A 2.0 track is provided on the Arrow.

I remember that they went back to the original DAT tapes in order to recreate the entire sound mix so it was not transferred from a finished master.

Ok. That didn't help much.

What help would you like? You didn't like the 5.1 mix and there is a Stereo mix on the Arrow release, so perhaps try the Stereo mix instead of the 5.1?

I just thought the 5.1 mix would be more immersive, but ok. And i only have the Norwegian BD, which only has the 5.1 remix.

Oh, now I understand. I was unclear that you only had the Norwegian BD.

Got my set in today from Amazon. The clear slip is completely busted, one side it totally detached so it doesn't even stay together. Not a huge deal, but still disappointing when you spend this much money on something.

My plastic slipcover got dinged up a bit, even though I ordered from Diabolik and they pack like they're shipping the Hope Diamond. The packaging is pretty, but doesn't seem super durable.

Any Canadians received a pre-order from Zavvi.ca? Mine was dispatched on January 26th, but that was the last time there was any activity on the shipment tracking. Wondering how long I should wait before I get concerned...

My Amazon order of the set arrived via UPS today. They sent it in one of those blue and white bag/envelopes and it must have busted open in transit as UPS repacked it in an actual box and cut the portion of the Amazon bag containing my name and address off and used it as the shipping label. Thankfully the only damage was some slight dinging on the corner of the plastic slip where the seam is which caused it to separate about an inch up.

I understand they're using these as cost saving measures, but common sense should come into play in situations where something obviously calls for better packaging.

Watched Fu*king Amal tonight.

WOW! It looks extraordinary. I'd only ever seen the ancient DVD, and this really feels like a veil has been lifted, it's gorgeously grainy, this probably looks better than any release print ever did.

Also, if you want to see how dreadful the Swedish BD apparently looks, with DNR turned up to 1 million, then watch the trailer. It appears to be remastered too, but has been smoothed to oblivion, so that it looks kind of like an animated movie.

So grateful these wonderful films were rescued from the video Bermuda Triangle and given this lavish presentation.

Despite being packaged surprisingly well by Amazon in a proper box and all, the plastic slipcover still got damaged. That's not a big deal for me, but unfortunately it appears that for F*cking Amal, there is a part at the edge of the disc that has separated and is peeling away from the base layer. Weirdly enough, the only other time I had this happen with a brand new disc was with another Lukas Moodysson film: We Are The Best (the previous disc released by Magnolia). The disc appears to work fine, but I'm not taking any chances. Hopefully the replacement copy is okay!

I watched F**king Amal for the very first time with this set. I have long been aware of it and have wanted to see it for years. It sure did not disappoint! What a beautiful gem of a movie!

The ending of this is
[Show spoiler]one of the most feel-good scenes I have ever seen in a film. The way that Elin gathered herself and proudly announced Agnes as her GF when exiting the bathroom was so powerful! I generally don't go for movies with an LGBTQ theme tbh (don't hold against me, lol) but this one is an absolute masterpiece! The look on Agnes' face in regards to her crush Elin said it all. I loved her facial expressions.

Lilya 4-ever I thought was a great movie, but
[Show spoiler]very depressing and a bit shocking. I saw it coming early on she was marked for sex trafficking. Pretty tough to watch at times.

2 great movies but unfortunately i was not able to get into any of the other ones.

Definitely the best release of any label this year so far, just based on how well the boxset is designed and how packed it is. I am surprised this isn't getting more attention on the forums. Low budget, unknown, sleazy Vinegar Syndrome movies get more hype than this. I hope this sells enough for Arrow.

I watched the bonus features on Lilja 4-ever last night, and was shocked to find that Moodysson himself doesn't like the film at all. He thinks it's a failure, because he was working in a culture not his own and because he thinks the film is too preachy.

I couldn't disagree more, I think it's his towering masterpiece.

There's an interview video with him on each film, usually about 20-30 mins, but for this one the interviewer could barely drag 9 mins of response out of him, and most of that time is her asking incredibly wordy questions that he usually replies to very tersely.

I find it fascinating when artists don't agree with the opinions of critics or their fans, like Woody Allen thinking his two masterpieces, Annie Hall and Manhattan, are failures.

I was going to watch the film tonight, but my UHD of The Last Emperor just arrived, so Lilja will have to wait
