..regarding Curucu , Beast of the Jungle , it seems this was written and directed by Curt Siodmak the screenwriter of The Wolfman , I Walked with a Zombie and Donovan's Brain...it was shot entirely on location in the Amazon...in his book Memoirs of a Hollywood Writer Siodmak writes :

...." it was the one and only time that an american motion picture company finished and brought back a full-length picture shot in the Amazon and released for years in America."

...i have never seen the movie but it seems it had a tricky and dangerous scene involving Beverly Garland and a live python , according to Siodmak...

..i might include this with Flesh and Fantasy in my next order...i wonder if VS will be releasing any other older movies this month..

..so i suppose the question now is whether its made on demand or would amazon send a 10 year old disc , which would not be ideal considering the shorter life span of DVD-Rs...
If you are worried about ordering from Amazon, I suggest you order from directly from the source, MovieZyng. AFAIK they press these Fox MOD discs.

...MovieZyng just responded to my email enquiry saying that these MOD dvds are generally made at or near the time of order so , as you suggested , they would seem to be the preferable place to order from..

Has anyone heard anything else about the release date? blu-ray.com says Jan 31 and Vinegar's website says 'mid to late Jan' but I have yet to see Vinegar themselves give a firm date. I preordered this when it was first announced.

It is already released by VS but they are shipping subscriber orders first. So if you just preordered this title or a few others you will have to wait a few more days.

Got mine and watched it today. Glad to see it has a reversible insert with the original poster art.

Thumbs up My first VS order has arrived!

Greetings to you all! I received my Blu-ray copy of Flesh And Fantasy today courtesy of Vinegar Syndrome via the USPS. Here is my cat, Chico, pictured alongside this particular release as well as snapshots of the reversible artwork and of the slipcover. Enjoy!

Just finished watching the movie. The underlying image is beautiful, both because of the wonderful cinematography and being sourced from a second generational element, just don't expect a WA level restoration of the material. Plenty of dust, damage, and scratches present throughout the entire movie.

Thanks for the info. Rather disappointing about the print damage though. Warner Archive remains the gold standard for vintage restorations.

Also since chapter marks are based on the start of each reel, there is no way to watch either of the first two stories individually without having to fast forward through a few scenes.

Thankfully reel 4 begins about the beginning of the third story
[Show spoiler](although it skips the introduction of Boyer's character which is technically at the end of the second story)
.

...despite some print damage still glad this has been given the high definition treatment , which is what makes film look like film with natural grain intact , thus giving depth and detail to the image..

Why does the back cover say that the film is in color?
