I really hope the Bluray release would include the deleted scene with Anthony LaPaglia as Al Capone.

When I saw this scene, I couldn't believe it was left on the cutting floor as it featured all the antagonists with Capone looking for ways to get rid of Sullivan.

First day buy for me. This movie was on my DVD to buy list but never got the chance to buy the DTS version that I wanted. Blu FTW!

Want to not spoil it for others that haven't watched it?

Probably as a deleted scene which I've never seen but it would be great if Sam Mendes added a few more scenes. I was sad that it ended too fast.

And I'm surprised to see this film is very loved, I honestly think it was snubbed out of Best Picture and Hanks deserved to get nominated for Best Actor. Mendes needs to do another period piece drama. He's just so well skilled at directing those. Revolutionary Road not as good as this but was still a pretty great movie.

To be honest, I don't really watch my DVD of this all that often. But getting it on BD would definitely make me re-watch it a few more times. Love that HD! I also have the original graphic novel and have that sitting right next to my DVD. I'm a digibook fan, so I wouldn't mind some BD digibook packaging, but I don't believe Paramount's never done that, so I don't think that'll really happen.

Can't wait to see this BD also. Of course though seeing this movie brings back the memories of growing up outside of Chicago and seeing on the news about open auditions for extras. I was in high school at the time and told my dad I wanted to do this, since I'm a huge Tom Hanks fan. My dad's response, "Well he probably wouldn't be there" and he talked me out of it. A few months later on the front page of our newspaper was Tom Hanks signing autographs on Toy Story VHS tapes and talking about filming in Chicago. Oh I was so pissed.

Road to Perdition is not a film that Fox releases on home video however, DreamWorks did (although Fox was a production company). So it would be up to Paramount to release the film here...

I have the old DVD which was alright, as well as the Academy Award screener 2-disc + CD box set w/ script etc. Just an excellent film & truly do want it now on BD.

So, Paramount will distribute Road to Perdition on blu-ray ? or will it be FOX ?

Thanks

I love this film. I would definitely be interested in owning on BD. I loved the dynamic between Newman's and Hanks' characters. This was also the first time I saw Daniel Craig in a film.

This is great news to see Road To Perdition getting a Blu-ray release here in North America. I'll be adding this to my Blu-ray library for sure, it's a great film.

I doubt it.

Personally, I think a committment was made to manufacture them, otherwise, Warner would be cranking out many more. In fact, they chose to reissue Casablanca, Natural Born Killers and Amadeus in standard keepcase packaging. Even "The Wizard of OZ" was made available in standard keepcases. If they were so popular, why not use them more frequently? They had a vested interest in the manufacturing of the snapper cases used for DVDs and I suspect the same regarding Digibooks. Even Criterion has chosen to go to a clear but standard keepcase rather than continuing to issue cardboard packaging. They actually responded to the demands of the consumer—what a concept! My intent is not to start another debate on the virtues of Digibooks. The pros and cons have been debated many times before. I just wish the consumer was given a choice.

Huh? That's odd. If I remember correctly this was distributed by DreamWorks which holds rights to Paramount, Fox only co-produced. Likely they have the international rights. But as far as I know, Paramount is suppose to release this Blu-ray. Rare to find it on a Fox BD release.

Note to the OP if this Fight Club is Region A version?
