Hurray. I am psyched about this. I watched this as a kid and loved every minute of it. Will be happy to add this to the collection.

I really hope they do this right and include the notorious 4th ending, all deleted scenes and maybe a commentary. Still, its exciting! woohoo!
I don't think it will since it's not "Director approved".

Here.

Haven't seen this since I was a kid. Be interesting to see if I'll still enjoy it.

No, and until the late '80s the studio didn't know that it even existed. The fourth ending was not written when the rest of the script was.

According to IMDB it was filmed. Below is what it said.

"There was actually a fourth ending scripted and shot, in which Wadsworth committed all the murders out of a twisted need for perfection in his life. He reveals that he poisoned everyone with a slow-acting toxin in their drinks. It ended with Wadsworth being killed by dogs as he attempted to escape by car from the house. The rather grim nature of the ending is probably why it was never released. It was never shown because the film makers thought the ending would have been too obvious - it only survives in the novelization and the storybook, which features but a single photo from that ending (the Chief punching Wadsworth in the stomach)."

Too bad a copy of this didn't survive, it would have been a real treat to have on the blu.

Yeah, it would have been really awesome to see. Hopefully they add some special features and it would be really neat if they got some of the cast back together and did a commentary.

Also, recently I found an old VHS Clue 2 game at goodwill. You play by watching a clip and then you receive cards which give clues to who did or did not commit the murder, with what weapon, and who was murdered. It's pretty enjoyable once you get the hang of it. It would be fun to see Paramount do something like that for the blu-ray release.

I never knew about another ending.... that's neat, but wish it'd be included. It's a lost ending now...

Maybe we will get the storyboard. I'd be satisfied with that if the footage is indeed lost.

I don't think the footage survived long enough until they had released the movie at the Cinema then, or they said that it had been to make the storybook legit for the film. It was written closer to when they made the storybook than when they had started shooting. I'm sure that if they had added a fourth ending, or even shot for extra script, they would have mentioned it during the production.

Well I know Jonathan Lynn loves this movie and was even at a anniversary screening with Jane Weilding in the audience which his interview at the screening can be seen on youtube so I think since its getting a blu ray release he may include it. besides lots of people will be very upset (me included) if its a barebones blu ray release. so even if we get a commentary or making of documentry ill be happy with that. but id love to see the 4th ending and all deleted scenes.
