Any opinions on PQ would be appreciated. I own the old Anchor Bay DVD and looking to upgrade.
I'm no expert, but Return to Horror High from 88 Films looks good to me. Is it worth the upgrade to HD? I would say yes. Not a whole lot of extras, but I did enjoy the interview with the movies lead actress.

Mother's Day is one of my top 3 fav Slasher releases from 88
(Nightmare and Holywood Chainsaw Hookers would be the other's)

given your User Name you should own it as it is pretty sick

was banned in the UK for cinema release in 1980 (until 88's 2015 BD release)
def a classic, good script, convincing acting, gore, killings, humiliation, rape....
= highly recommended IMHO

I've only watched Slaughter Hotel once but I've seen Rosalba Neri strip in the greenhouse at least a dozen times. Its an incoherent film but wacky and sleazy enough to be entertaining. And I have a high tolerance for muff stroking.

I'm new to 88 and just recently decided to pick up the bulk of the slasher and italian collections and I've been happy with them for the most part... Except two of them came in irregular cases that don't fit the collection and my neatness OCD can't handle upsetting things like that.

Bloodsucking Pharaohs came in a solid red case that isn't the same size and shape as the other slashers and SS Experiment Camp came in a classic blue amaray. Is this normal or can I complain to either Zavvi or 88 about it? If I can't complain, will I at least get the proper case for Pharaohs if I take the opportunity to get it now that it's on sale on 88's site? I'll just do that and sell the other copy in that case.

There are 2 - 3 IIRC that came in those shitty red cases. For a very brief period 88 were selling replacements from their store. But that was a while ago.

You're pretty much stuffed mate. Like the rest of us.

For SS Experiment Camp I swapped with a clear case from something else.

Good luck complaining to 88 Films. They'll ignore legit complaints.

Different cases are normal. I have 30+ titles and at least 6 different cases. Red, black, clear, blue, thick and thin. It is very obnoxious as I like to sort based on publishers. They aren't the only one but they are the worst offender.

I never realized how good it feels to not care about things like the colors of BD cases in my collection. Ah, the sweet freedom inherent with being sane. Luxury, this.

lol

Style of case, color.
Slipcases too.

Transfer and encode of the film and decent extras matter.
Put it in a brown paper bag and I will buy it.

88 Films sale in Fopp is brilliant.

Looks to be everything released from Just Before Dawn backwards is included in the deal.

Glad the waiting for me has paid off, £6 each is my price point.

Does anyone know if these are in the 5 for £30 in HMV like the Arrow video ones that are in both stores ?

Ah, thanks. All I really needed to know was that these weren't bootlegs or used copies sold as new.

Even as a newcomer to their products, it does appear obvious that 88 is kind of a sloppy organization. Good selection of films, though!

I am deeply impressed by your lacking sense of aesthetics and organization. Proper rebel on the internet over here.

Bit harsh. Most of their 'collections' are fairly uniform (slashers are in skinny red cases, Italian are in clear cases etc.)

There have been odd exceptions, but for the most part they are okay.

The Fopp sale is in full swing, don’t forget to pop down to Fopp and get an 88 Films tote bag.
You need to buy 3 of the Italian or Slasher Collection, to get a tote bag

If only HMV could do the same offer () - but i suppose this is what keep (the few of them that there are) Fopp stores in existence

Just Before Dawn for £6?!

A steal - 2 versions of the film:

1) Uncut US theatrical version (90:33)
2) Longer International theatrical version (102:37),

a good twist half way through, good death scenes (
[Show spoiler]big blade through the crotch - a needle and thread won't help that
!), and some good extras too
