+1 on someone earlier mentioning "Sleuth" from 1972. That film is deliciously cunning and such a fun ride with twists and turns and excellent acting. It looks like Caine and Olivier are having so much fun doing this film. Just checked my DVD of this, it's one of those annoying flipper discs from waaaay back in the day, would love to see an upgrade.

I think this is fantastic news. Let's be realistic here.
First: WB stated these would be pressed discs which is not a burn off. Second: and most importantly....these are back catalog titles. Do you really think it makes any economical sense to release these movies any other way? How many copies of say, DEATHTRAP, FEARLESS, DEMON SEED, LOOKER do you think would sell in this day and age? We would never see these on BLU so I am thrilled with this announcement. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

You're looking at it entirely wrong. They're not losing faith in anything. They're releasing more niche titles in a way that doesn't cost them as much as a wider release. You're thinking that if MOD didn't exist, these would be released widely, but that's not true, they likely would have never been released at all. This is good news, this allows titles that you'd never expect to see the light of day have a chance now. I wish every studio had a MOD for their deep catalogs.

Replicated = factory pressed/stamped disc
Duplicated = burned to blank media If these were BD-Rs, the press release would have not mentioned that these discs will be replicated. Instead they would have said these were strictly MOD (manufactured-on-demand/burned). This announcement sounds more like they are taking the Twilight Time approach with the Warner Archive Blu-ray releases and will only have a limited number of discs manufactured. |

Anyway, I ordered Gypsy. I wonder, though, how I will tell if it was MOD or not. It's easy to tell with DVDs but I've never seen a BD-R before. ![]() |

Exactly. Though unlike TT Warner is likely to simply order another batch if they sell out. No reason to not to since it's not a licensing deal for a specific # over a specific # of years (the 3000 copies/3 years for TT).
