Glad to see House of Seven Corpses finally getting a release, it was originally announced for November 2011. A pretty lousy film though, despite the cool opening credits.

Aside from Santa Sangre, nothing else really seems too appealing

The Inglorious Bastards received an excellent transfer by Severin. It's one of the better looking movies of its era on Blu-ray.

Horror Express is an effectively atmospheric bit of late-night viewing, despite the (unfortunately and completely unnecessary) compression problems and the less than pristine print. I pre-ordered when it was $11.99 and was basically satisfied for the price, although I wouldn't pay the $20 Amazon is asking for it now.

I can also recommend Horror Express if you can acquire it relatively cheaply. It's likely never going to look any better, the film elements were thought lost at one point and they discovered this print in some far-flung country. I would not characterize it as a masterpiece, but anyone interested in the work of Peter Cushing should see it.

That doesn't mean they had to encode it so poorly.

Zulu Dawn
The Wild Geese

You can thank me later.

Don't give too much heed to negative reviews about the rough look of The Wild Geese. It was always a grainy film. But....oh, what a film! Severin really should have used a better encode than MPEG-2, though. Still, the colors are good and it looks magnitudes better than the DVD.

Zulu Dawn thread https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=214544

Some good posts in these threads. Both are outstanding films that I waited for years to be released on blu-ray. I bought them from ImportCDs, way cheaper than amazon.

There's also some mild audio distortion on The Wild Geese. It's noticeable during the title song and some of the musical cues later in the film.

One recent Severin blu-ray that hasn't been mentioned yet is Ashanti, I guess due to a lack of interest in the the movie. The disc is a beauty though, even with the MPEG-2 coding.

The Wild Geese I will get when it hits $7.99 since it is MPEG-2 and has lossy audio, but I will get Zulu Dawn when it hits $10 or less since they tried a little harder on that one.

The Wild Geese. I loved watching this film on HBO during the early 80s and now I've got my own copy.

I wish they would release some of their horror titles on Bluray; Bloody Birthday, Bloody Moon, Door Into Silence, Nightmare Castle, Nightmares, and The Psychic. As well as Psychomania and Stone.

The Psychic and Nightmare Castle would both be instant purchases.
