Don't get me wrong I am glad we are getting this set and I cant wait to check it out. I just know there will most likely be another one. I cant wait until we can get official specs on this cause I would really like to know what cuts we are getting along with the audio specs. What worries me is the book style packaging which looks like the same type of book they had for the DVD box set that I had with the mask. It was horrible and there was glue all over the DVDs and they got scratched up super easy which is why I sold that set off. I know that was paramount that did that DVD set so I am hoping WB doesn't screw it up like they did.

That is a good point. These movies will be bled forever. Like I'm going to buy another copy of Halloween just so that the sun isn't shining in the day time. I think I'll just stick with my special sunshine edition for now.

To bad we can't get a try before we buy to check out the movie transfers & audio. I never got the first 3 movies on bluray so I don't really know how much of an improvement they are over the dvd versions.

I own the first on Blu, and Part 3 and FvJ on DVD. I am definitely picking this up. The first one I got for $8 and 3 was $5. I don't feel like I'm losing money, just as long as all previous special features are accounted for. I almost bought the dvd set last year, but I had this suspicion the Blu-ray set would be coming. All I want besides the special features, are 1 and JGTH uncut. I have a feeling that's what we're getting. All signs seem to point to that.

Actually, the only blu-ray rerelease for HalloweeN is the first which is this year. Also 2 different studios released II but that's it.

I have purposely avoided buying any of the Friday movies outside of the first 3 on dvd simply for this release. Can't wait.

The first 3 were definite improvements so I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The Killer Extras disc had:

Chronicles feature (1 hour, 43 minutes)
Behind the Gore (about 30 minutes)
Crystal Lake Victims Tell all (about 15 minutes)
Tales from the Cutting Room Floor (17 mins)
Artifacts and Collectibles (7 mins)
Trailers (maybe about 20 mins?)

...so that's a little over three hours accounted for on that disc. The other extras will likely be the Ultimate Edition ones and be on the individual discs.

Wonder if they will keep the Part 3 commentary from the original DVD box set; probably not, which means I'll still have to hold on to that. They will most likely use the same Blu discs for 1-3, which means no commentary and no new 3D transfer.

(Best Buy also had the bonus DVD of the Weekend of Horrors Jason panel entitled "Jason Forever", which ran 29 minutes...might have to hold on to that one as well) EDIT: thanks to bigdaddyhorse for reminding me that this IS on the existing Blu of Part 2 (although in standard def, but at least it's there!)
Whats so great about F13 pt 3 commentary that you are keeping the reg DVD? Or are you just weird like that and will keep it "just to have"?

The first 2 movies look amazing. The first one has lots of great detail on everything. Very clean presentation.

(Well, I'm weird in a lot of ways...)

Just a Friday the 13th completest freak. And it's a fun track.

The Part 3 track is OK, I think there's too many people on it so people get cut off, subjects changing too quickly etc. Also something is wrong with the audio towards the end and it gets difficult to hear. It's something I will revisit every so often though, since 3 is one of my favorites and I'm always interested in what Dana Kimmell has to say about all of it.

I recently listened to the Jason Takes Manhattan commentary with Jensen Daggett and Scott Reeves (with Kane Hodder on the phone) and really enjoyed it, Jensen and Scott are really funny and enjoy picking on themselves and the movie, I was surprised because I found them pretty dull in the actual movie. And as others have said the Part 5 commentary with Danny Steinman and his religious stars is really insane and funny.

I was more referring to the DVDS. I still remember at one point in the late 90s, out horror section had an entire row JUST for the Evil Dead editions. Back when Best Buy had a massive horror section....

I HATED the part 5 one. Dude didn't seem like he was taking it seriously. They SHOULD include that one to honor his recent-ish passing. He was great to talk with when I met him...

On that part 8 commentary, Jensen tells Scott he should do a horror convention, and he sounds interested...yet he has never done one to the day. Argh!!!!

The Part III one is funny cause Dana talks about a fan who found her phone number and called her one day. And this guy I know from an autograph collecting site swears it was him. Dude is a great guy, not the stalker type she made him to seem like. Dude just likes collecting graphs! And she was so hard to get for awhile.

They should include ALL the commentaries, as I haven't listened to them all since they came out and it'd be a fun listen again. We shall see I guess.

When there's no news and nobody new comes along...the options tend to be "dead" or "repetitive." I enjoy the silence when there's nothing more to be said.

How about we start something new, which movie in the series are you most looking forward to seeing on Blu-ray ?
For me it's Jason X, not because it's a great film but it was one of the first films to be scanned digitally and as a result looked amazing on dvd so I can't wait to see a hi-def transfer.

I'm most excited to see Part 6 in high def...I think McLoughlin cared more about composition/design/colors than anyone else in the series.

I agree, I'm looking forward to seeing part X also because it looked pretty fantastic in the theatre for a Friday the 13th film. It should look very nice on blu-ray. But I think I'm most looking forward to seeing parts IV and V - part IV because I think it's probably my favorite, and part V because of Debi Sue Voorhees.

I'd like to say I'm looking forward to part 3, but I get the feeling it's going to be the same muddy-looking print that's already out there. I always loved part III because it's the first Friday film I ever saw, and it scared me silly, and of course it's the one where he gets his mask. Now if we were getting part 3 as we should be getting it as an option for those that care, I'd be very interested in how that would look. But given what we know about the set, I'd say parts IV, V and X are the ones I'm really looking forward to.

I find the characters in parts IV and V the most entertaining so I always enjoy those.

It was definitely a high point in the series and felt much more "movie like" than any of the films up 'til that point (and most of them after actually).

5, 6, 7, Jason Goes To Hell & Jason X. Freddy Vs Jason looks decent on the single disc Bluray that's already out now but I would hope that it was given a new transfer just think it could look so much better.
