Crystal Lake Memories is two discs, though.

No deleted footage or workprints from the other films that haven't had the deleted scenes put on any previous release?
All of Scream's press releases about it have "More features to be announced soon" all over the page. They said on Facebook that the COVID pandemic kept them from securing features they're wanting to include before they were able to release the press release about it today. For all we know, they didn't even plan on announcing it today but had to since it was leaked somewhere else.

The original 2013 combo release was 5 discs (2 Blu-rays, 2 DVD's, and the exclusive Bonus DVD)

This was listed as $400+ on Amazon like an hour ago, now it’s under $300. Sell while you can still make a profit and use the money to buy the new SF set.

I'm just going to stick with the 2013 tin set and Crystal Lake Memories. That's more than enough Friday the 13th for me. I am curious about the new transfers though.

Sure the characters are mostly unlikable and it feels a little texas chainsaw-y; but the kills are pretty cool (Opening 20 minutes, Boat/dock sequence, cop and Trent's deaths), and I think Derek Mears makes for a intimidating, good looking Jason.

I never had an issue with the tunnels/traps/holding Whitney either; Jason's mentally challenged and she looks like his mom. The tunnels and traps I actually think is cool, but YMMV.

Overall, it's not top tier Friday, but it's better than Parts 8, 9, 10 (And JGTH is my guilty pleasure)
I would agree with this. Too many people with their garbage nostalgia in here.

I don't think the remake is better than 8, but 9 and 10 for sure.

Same. And right next to all the German mediabooks too.

As somebody who hadn't seen the majority of the franchise until about five years ago - and thus isn't clouded by nostalgia - the remake is crap.

Same here. Saw a couple between the late-90s and early-00s but didn't really see them all and get into the series until I bought the "From Crystal Lake to Manhattan" DVD box set in 2007. I actually have no nostalgia for '80s horror because I didn't grow up on it, not getting into horror until the late-90s, but I've since come to really enjoy it more than any other era of horror.

As a fan of the series since I was young and watching them all on TV, I saw the remake opening night and loved it. It was an actual Jason movie (as opposed to 9, 10 and FvJ) and it gave us lots of kills and titties. I couldn't have asked for any more

I discovered horror at a young age (I was watching the likes of The Evil Dead, The Exorcist, and Hellraiser when I was 9/10), but for some reason, I didn't get into the Friday franchise until much later. Aside from the first two and Jason X, the rest of the films were essentially blind-buys when I bought the lot of them on Blu-ray.

except it isn't a remake of the first movie, its a new retelling of parts 2-4.
it basically picks up at the end of part 1. Ive found the people who dont like it dont get that its not a remake of the first film.

I like the remake, but I get the criticism too, but yeah, it's pretty much a "remake" in the sense that it starts over after Part One. It mixes elements, but also creates a new storyline (which I felt really stretches).

The remake .... The opening with the camp and Jason's house was really good. The later portion was ok. But the MAIN gripe I have is the AWFUL basically non-existent music score.
I was so disappointed about that. Back in 2009 I read where the director Marcus Nispel (who should have never been chosen to direct it) didn't want to use the "KiKiKi MaMaMa" hardly at all. That decision shows he didn't know WTF he was doing and knew nothing of the fanbase of this franchise.

The Friday remake is akin to Carpenter’s recent Halloween sequel. It scraps all other films in the series, and serves as a sequel to the original Halloween.
Friday the 13th (2009) is a sequel-cum-remake to Cunningham’s original. And I thought it was the best Friday thus far.

I'm still debating what I want to do with this set! I have the Shout version on order, so I really don't think I need to keep it in my collection. It is a really cool set as I've always like the solid look/design of the tin box - looks great on the shelf.

If anyone has been looking to add it to their collection, PM me. Would rather sell here than someone on eBay.
