Just finished the latest of my F13 shorts: Jason Takes the Manhattan Bridge. Let me know what you think. Now It's time to watch the real thing!

I like it too, just really campy. Such a departure from the rest of the series up to that point. I agree that Jason Goes to Hell is probably my least favorite, though still quite enjoyable. Though I know it's relatively unpopular, A New Beginning is probably my favorite, it's arguably the most quintessentially '80s.

For me, the 80s Paramount films are sacred. Together, they're my favorite horror series. The New Line films are enjoyable too, and I actually enjoyed the remake , but nothing has topped the first 8.

Great rankings everyone!

In honor of the date, my tentative order:

Friday the 13th: A New Beginning
Friday the 13th
Friday the 13th Part 2
Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter
Friday the 13th Part VI - Jason Lives
Friday the 13th Part III
Friday the 13th Part VII - The New Blood
Jason X
Friday the 13th Part VIII - Jason Takes Manhattan
Freddy vs. Jason
Friday the 13th (2009)
Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday

Likely some more controversial placements in there.

Any rumblings on a uncut set or if the stuff that made it in the uncut pt 9 are included in the set on a different disc?

I just have to know, what ranks part 8 above the others for you? First one you saw in theaters maybe? Everyone's preference is different, but with Jason getting such a miniscule amount of screen time, just wondering why you have such high regard for it.

The top three are the great installments - F13, F13 PII, F13 PIV

The next section are middling: F13 PVIII, F13 PV, F13 PVII, F13 PIII

The next section are my low end: F13 PVI, F13 2009, FvJ, JX

The final section is just abysmal: TFF: JGTH

To answer your question, I don't actually believe that I saw any of the movies in theater. I did see Freddy's Dead in theaters when I was in high school (that's the only classic series installment seen in theaters - though it's the worst of that series).

I saw JTManhattan as a teenager and have always had a fond memory of it. When I watched it again last year, I still enjoyed it. It's cheap and silly, but I like it so much more than other installments. Definitely a bit mediocre though. The great theme song also pushes it higher for me.

The one many people rate highly: Jason Lives, has always rubbed me a little wrong. I don't really like the tone and the humor. It's still enjoyable, just less so for me.

I had never seen FvJ, JX or Jason Goes To Hell till last year. Those all scrap the bottom of the barrel. There are a few interesting and imaginative qualities to JX though. Like a said earlier, JGTH is just hideously awful.

I watched the remake again last night. What a shame. The cinematography was just gorgeous, and Jason was a total badass...maybe the best ever. But there isn't a single likable character in this. The tone is all over the place. It's like the actors thought they were in a Seth Rogen comedy or something...but they weren't funny in the least. What a missed opportunity.
