Why thank you, great band. And no, believe it or not I haven't seen Halloween 6 at all actually, I haven't seen any of them beyond the first two and H20. I've been meaning to correct that but haven't got around to it yet.
Definitely check them out. Part 6 is my second favorite of the series behind the original.

I'm sure I'll enjoy most of them, being that I like the slasher genre and especially the '80s ones tend to have something about them. Which cut of H6 would you say is the best one?

With the box being as problematic as it is (last time I checked, Amazon had withdrawn it from sale again), I wonder when/if this will be released across the pacific in a less clumsy packaging.

Check out the theatrical first, then the Producer's Cut. I prefer the theatrical cut for the ending, but I think the best version is a hybrid of both cuts.

I wonder if WB formed a department that just specializes in Friday The 13th returns from retailers?

That's right! I'm still at the running. I finished a trail marathon two weekends ago at a state park where the start/finish area looked uncannily similar to Camp Crystal Lake, in fact. Pretty funny.

Which brings me to...

Jason Lives was filmed in Covington, GA for the cemetery scenes and town scenes, but I found out today that the campground scenes were filmed at a state park in Rutledge, GA, which is a couple miles away. The campground (Camp Daniel Morgan) is still there, and some of the landmarks are still recognizable. Some of my running friends and I are toying around with the idea of going out there for a run and taking some photos of the locations from the movie, since the place is only an hour and half away.

So I went ahead and bought my set. I've seen the first four films, and have enjoyed them all in part but I think four was the only one I remember thinking a genuinely good movie with three being the low point of those first four. Maybe that isn't the best of starts, but after watching the entire Nightmare franchise and Freddy vs Jason I just really wanna do the same for Vorhees now and maybe I'll like it better the second time around.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind for when I start making my way through the series.

That's very cool. I'd like to see the pictures if you're willing to share them on here later on.

been watching these and actually liked part 3. It was built around the 3d gimmick and was a fun watch. It's been years since I've watched an anaglyph 3D movie, so it was cheesy fun.

I had never seen it before, so I was wondering when the hell he was actually going to get his mask.

I'm home from work and going through the supplements of Jason X before starting Freddy vs. Jason. I enjoyed "The Many Faces of Jason Voorhees." It's a short documentary, but it includes a fun historical take on slasher movies, and it's always cool to see Joe Bob Briggs talking about cinema.

The disc I have skipping issues with is the Parts V & VI disc. But the data side is flawless. Not one print or scratch. What's that about? And would Warner be willing to replace the disc for me? I bought it a year ago from Fry's, but only just got around to watching it this month.

I just finished revisiting Freddy vs. Jason for the first time since seeing the film at the theater back in 2003.

Freddy vs. Jason is a fun movie, and it's a notable improvement over Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X. As long as one is willing to leave logic at the door, the way that the Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street franchises cross paths here is pretty cool.

Monica Keena is one of the most gorgeous girls of the franchise, and her character has an interesting toughness. It's good to see the beautiful Katharine Isabelle in the movie, due to her involvement in other horror features (Ginger Snaps, the 2002 Carrie TV movie, etc.). Chris Marquette is a recognizable face, because of some quirky film appearances during that era. It goes without saying that Robert England has his act down to a science, even if his makeup is not quite as effective as it was during the early A Nightmare on Elm Street flicks, and Ken Kirzinger is a decent Jason Voorhees, although I wish that Kane Hodder had been cast for the role again.

The climactic battle is just good old popcorn movie awesomeness. I did not care for some logical flaws leading up to the climax, but the final showdown on the dock was solid.

Freddy vs. Jason has its flaws, though. Oh yes, it has its flaws...

I dislike the "nu metal" music in the soundtrack, because it robs the movie of any semblance of nuance.

I also really dislike the cinematic look of Freddy vs. Jason. The obtrusive color schemes that are a malady of so many post-2000 movies are all too noticeable here. Because I've watched all of these films in sequence this week, I found myself mourning for the loss of the wonderfully natural film-like look of the first two Friday the 13th movies back in the early 1980s. At no point in this movie did I believe that the actors were really outdoors, and this is largely due to the forced vibe of the cinematography.

The computer-generated images in Freddy vs. Jason are miles above those in Jason X, but they're still not quite there, especially during the kill scenes. A movie like this needs an actual makeup department that specializes in bloody effects, and everything here looked too cleanly digital and artificial.

It's all in the fun, though.

I am now ready to hit the home stretch with Friday the 13th (2009)...

I'm wondering the same thing because it might be a while before I get to watch them all. The next Friday the 13th is in February, so that might be when I do a marathon. It seems like WB should help you out if it's a straight up defective disc. Try here maybe: http://www.warnerbros.com/help/customer-service

Your review pretty much nailed it. I really miss the beautiful cinematography of the entries from the 80s...and the characters for that matter. I did like some of the cast in FvJ though...especially Monica Keena. Make sure you check out the Crystal Lake Memories doc if you haven't.

Cool, that's the link I used to email them just now. Hopefully they can be of help. I've never encountered a disc that skipped like that without there being some kind of visible damage to the data side.

I had that happen with Scream 4, the only time for me as well.

I would say yes because back in 2005 I had Looney tunes golden collection set exchanged with Warner due to a disc skipping and I bought the set 2 years before. Just explain to them you didn't get a chance to watch it until now and it's too late to return to the store.

I'm kicking that one around in my head now. I'm not sure if it merits a purchase, but I'd love to watch it at least once.

If you're a fan of the franchise it's definitely worth it...7 hrs.
