I posted this in the Crystal Lake Memories thread, but realized it's not really perused all that often.

Does anyone know the segment (or which film they are discussing) in the doc where one of the producers or writers describes a scene where they wanted to have Jason's tombstone, with his birth year & each of his "death years" crossed out?

Pretty sure it's from the Freddy vs. Jason segment. An idea from a few of the writers that wrote a draft.

Two things:

I picked up three of the double-feature sets (already had 1&2 single releases) at FYE last Saturday, and they had 3-4 copies of each on the shelf. Did they get the entire first batch, if everyone else is OOS?

Second, cardboard "book" packaging is terrible. I wanted the Friday the 13th set bad, but I've had nothing but bad luck with the concept:

Alien Collection: The two bonus feature discs were the only ones unscathed. I had to buy separate copies of the first two, as they were in the worst shape.

James Bond: Ten of the discs were scratched, and a few were covered in glue from the layers of the pages becoming separated.

Indiana Jones: All discs are scratched.

Battle Royale: All of the discs have a "U" shaped indentation or scratch where the disc is exposed in the page to pull them out, and of course the bonus feature DVD is scratched to hell.

All of these were brand new, purchased at Best Buy (I think I got Battle Royale at a record store). I don't think it's the packaging itself that directly destroys the discs, but either the way they're handled during manufacturing or debris gets under the discs. Except the Battle Royale set. That one is just weird.

I always remove the discs carefully, by squeezing the edges of the page to create a pocket, so the disc isn't touching anything when I take it out, and I keep them in a wallet.

Welcome to my world... I always wondered if those people that say "I've never had a single disc scratched in sleeve packaging." are blind or just not as funny as some of us. Every single sleeve boxset I have bought has had damage to discs and I'd have to get a replacement and swap certain discs just to get a mint set. The Friday set was the worst ever, it looked like someone put the discs on the road and slid them across the pavement. I then thought to myself "How in God's name does a BD disc get THAT scratched?" They aren't extremely scratchable.

But yeah, at my FYE they had 2 copies of each double feature and I got 1 of each for myself. They are the only store that I have even seen them in stock at, let alone in person.

I don't even know if mine has scratches, I always just put whatever into the player. Haven't had playback issues yet with any discs.

Just want to give thanks to the members in this thread that told me about FYE. I found the double features and I got the last of what they had. Part 7 and 8 were hidden behind other movies just glad I was able to get the ones I wanted.

Are the new double features the same discs from the collection set, or did they actually separate the later films so they each have their own disc?

Now I'm not sure if I should try and get the box set or go for the double features. The double features would be faaaar preferable due to the box set scratch issues, but there's the whole missing movies thing...

I went to check out the releases for the double feature sets on Amazon and for some reason they're all out of stock and are estimated to ship in one to four weeks. Wonder if there's a reason for that or if they're just out of stock.

Glad you got them, I figured that most FYE stores had them. I have no idea why they aren't in stock in most places though. Weird. Amazon never has something out of stock like these for so long.

Blu-rays are very durable and have a thick coating, so small scratches shouldn't really effect them. That's a big reason studios went all-in on that kind of packaging for BD.

I have a lot of discs with small scratches on them from cardboard packaging, but all those discs play fine.

Yep, I actually tried to scratch a disc on purpose once and it was a little hard to. So it makes me wonder what some discs go through before being put in those sleeves. Sleeves really shouldn't scratch a BD, maybe get some dust or such on them from time to time, but not scratch the hell out of them.

If these are so popular then why the heck aren't they stocked at Best Buy or Target?

...makes no sense to me.
