Because Last Year Twilight Time stated they were entering a deal with MGM/UA and there were many titles they were looking out (I believe they were looking at 40 titles) - some they wanted to release but had to pass because the master was not in top shape.
Almost a year later Kino announces a deal with MGM/UA. So due to the time difference and Twilight's statement on sub par masters.... |

But that´s not right because the picture quality of the German Blu-ray "Mr Majestyk" sucks. |

Just watched Paris Blues on YouTube. It wasn't, as I remembered, just another Young White Guy With a Horn story. There's a lot going on in the story, perhaps too much (artistic freedom vs settling down, racism, drugs, jazz, and being an ex-patriot American) but what impressed me was Martin Ritt's direction. There's the opening sequence where he goes from an interior tracking shot, to an exterior tracking shot, back to another interior tracking shot. The star of the movie is really Paris and he (and cinematographer Christian Matras) photographs it beautifully. I don't think I'll be pre-ordering, but I'll probably pick it up at some point this year.

Kino seem to be pumping out these MGM/UA titles - it looks like we can expect about 8 a month. I'm very interested to see what they have planned for Sep-Nov, particularly in the way of horror titles. I expect it's them that has Burnt Offerings, and Twilight Time who have Audrey Rose (we should also find out TT's Sep/Oct slate in a couple of weeks). I imagine Kino will go more for 60s-early 70s horror. Might we get the likes of Raw Meat, the Count Yorga films, The Night Stalker/The Night Strangler, perhaps even a few Vincent Price films that Scream might have overlooked for a potential second VP set?
