Watched 35mm prints of Violent Professionals and Street Law yesterday at the monthly cult film club at our national film museum.

Violent Professionals was a bit of a bore. The posters I have seen for this are far better than the movie. Even the soundtrack was bland (with the exception of a rather groovy track during a heist) - and the soundtracks on Italian crime movies are usually pretty good.

Street Law was much better, though the acting by Franco Nero was somewhat over the top, intense as it was. It comes off as a bit of a riff on Death Wish - a man seeking revenge on the guys who used him as a hostage and beat him up. Quite entertaining, much better soundtrack than VP, and a rather (unintended) hilarious car chase, where the lead car seems to constant take detours over lawns and through cardboard boxes on fire to shake off the police without the police ever falling a yard behind.

All in all, though, both were (IMO) rather mediocre and only recommended to the more dedicated lovers of the genre. All others will probably do better with Umberto Lenzi's and Fernando di Leo's output.

Personally I look more forward to the next two months: the cult film club will be showing 35mm prints of Basket Case, Basket Case 2, Mansion of the Doomed, and Nightmare (in a Damaged Brain).

"Vernichter" just came in (Region Free and with English Audio) ... not a big fan of mediabooks though. Bonusfilm "The Bastard" with Kinski and Gemma on DVD.

I updated the first post and put all the movies that are not currently for order or pre-order under the "coming soon" section.

They are still waiting on the contract from the licensor. Dorado-Films also wants to put out HIGH CRIME in US territories.

It isn't from the 70's but seeing that it is considered pretty much the FIRST poliziotesco ( my own name for the genre) is there any indication that Banditi A Milano is getting a 4k master donw for a blu ray release?

Awesome movie, the best copy I have is an Italian TV rip.

It's a shame that there isn't even a proper DVD release out, let alone a Blu-Ray. One can only hope ... but when i see flicks like "Giallo a Venezia" getting a HD treatment "Banditi a miliano" doesn't seem so far fetched any more.

Also one of my personal favorites. Great cast too.
