Man I am very interested in getting these films but these high price points of late are starting to add up over multiple fall titles.

Film Movement should pay us to accept those dreadful covers.

Yeah, Boiling Point is pretty bad looking. As for the price, I expect it to drop on Amazon. Maybe $27 like some of the others. However, on their website they sell blu-rays on the $34.95 to $39.95 range.

The Violent Cop cover looks like the old Tartan video one. I'm pretty sure it's the theatrical poster?

Boiling Point looks terrible.

I'm glad that Kitano's films are slowly getting blu-ray releases, although I'd much prefer Sonatine over Kids Return, which is a lesser work in my view, at least from his great period anyway.

I am asking my 8 year old niece to use her crayons and draw me covers to the Blu-rays, I am sure they will be way better than Film Movement's..

Seems it's very easy to get any Kitano film but Sonatine.

Which is funny, because they basically gave away Sonatine for free on DVD. I probably never would have seen it if it didn't come bundled with Zatoichi, but now it's my favorite Kitano film, and nowhere to be seen on BD.

Thankfully the DVD of Sonatine has a great print attached with it. Looks fantastic for a DVD. Still, it would be nice to finally have on blu-ray.

I'm just happy that I'll finally be able to get rid of my Fox Lorber DVD's of Violent Cop and Boiling point. I've been waiting for an upgrade for quite some time.

Nice. They're up for pre-order on Amazon Canada in the slightly more reasonable $30 range. Ordered.

Those cover arts... I don't hate them. I appreciate what they were going for. But they're kinda jokes, haha. At least they match.

Has the person who designed these, seen Takeshi Kitano?

It's a pity as these covers neither do justice to the films themselves nor are they likely attract many who aren't already familiar with them (in fact, rather just the opposite I'm afraid).

Still, these films are so good that I'll still order them even if they were released in cling film.

With any luck a UK boutique label will pick these up soon enough and offer them at a more reasonable price - and with better cover art.

These are easily the worst covers I have ever seen... not just the design but also how their tone doesn't match the movies in the slightest.
I love Kitano and his films and never before has ugly coverart kept me from buying films I love... but these are just terrible enough for me to not buy them and hope for another company elsewhere to release them.
EWW!

Maybe Third Window as they did previous Kitano's in the UK.

After seeing those covers I think the company should rename and call themselves Bowel Movement.

It's a shame that the Third Window Films Takeshi Blu-rays are around $17 and have great artwork.... Meanwhile these are $40 and have horrific artwork. Not one single "person" on that artwork looks like a character from the film.

I also echo your buying sentiment. No matter what, these will be in my collection. I love Takeshi's work and the films are what matter. We have to remember that. I'd rather have Takeshi in HD with poor artwork than Takeshi in SD with great artwork.
