How about the Jackie Chan upscales that Shout just shrugged off, blaming Fortune Star for sending them poor transfers yet releasing them anyway?

I'm not sure that exactly counts as a technical issue & if that's what they got to work with then they shouldn't need to replace them.

I don't own any of these releases, just The Shadow and Darkman. I wanted to get Escape From New York, but that vertical blue line through the image turned me off. It wouldn't have been very hard to remove it, but I'm guessing whoever runs Shout! Factory deemed it too expensive.

You'd think that after being at this for so many years they would make sure these issues are fixed in-house before rushing them out like government cheese.

Issues with Black Christmas? Already? Seriously?

So not only are the discs already overpriced, but let's face it: many, if not most, will never be fixed or replaced.

So I'm stuck with a favorite, Body Bags, with a horribly evident audio issue that's so annoying it's literally hard to watch with it, that will probably have to become a coaster now.

Thanks, as always, Scream Factory.

What if I can't provide proof of purchase? I have almost all of the discs mention but I am not able to remember where I purchased them all.

Shouldn't Shout just replace the disc if I send it back to them? I don't see why I have to provide proof if they have my defective disc in hand.

Shout needs to slow the hell down and get their QC in order. This is ridiculous.

Just posted this in the Child's Play thread, but thought it would be helpful here too.

The serial number around the ring on the silver side of the corrected disc is CDV/CA BD16110903 CHILD'S PLAY DISC 1.

The original/problem disc serial number is BVDL-1288970.

Is there a particular spot in The Thing where the audio issue is really noticeable? I'm not sure if my copy is affected or not.

One of my favorite Shout discs is affected:

The audio on Ninja III: The Domination is -160ms out of sync (I could be a few ms off, but not more than 5 to 10)

Comparisons were made to 2 standard def versions of the film to determine the audio offset.

The DVD in the combo pack is also affected, I assume it is the same audio offset but did not spend the time to confirm.

Mentioned it a long time ago in the Shout thread but never heard anything about it.

You can fix that if you have PowerDVD.

IIRC, there was also an issue with their release of Hackers. There was dispute over the fact that a 5.1 audio track wasn't included but possibly should have? You'll have to dig through the thread to clarify if this is an actual issue for the OP.

Did you check the original post on this thread? Your MGM disc isn't affected.

Any good way to tell the difference between the original and replacement discs of Stigmata?

Thank you for this list.

This is what's so frustrating about Shout/Scream. I love their enthusiasm and their dedication to making cult movies available in fan-friendly editions. They're also usually (though not always) good at communicating with their customers.

They just need to get their technical operations and quality control departments in line.

They've released what, about 250 titles on blu-ray now? I'd say a dozen or so legitimate issues isn't that bad, all things considered (some of the items listed on page one are pretty nitpicky, if you ask me, and not real "errors"). Especially when they'll replace any titles that they go back and update.

There's a very good chance many of the films they put out would have languished in video limbo had they not taken the time to rescue them. So yeah, I can put up with maybe one minor issue per year with them (from the titles I buy), especially since I know anything that's truly screwy will be fixed.

Some of you guys really need to pull back and put things in perspective.

Really don't feel like getting into this again but there shouldn't be any issues at all when its dealing with production and not source material. Its not ok to release a bad product when its our money we're spending on it. If you're ok with a faulty product you're entitled to be cool with that but those of us that aren't want quality products. I love Shout! but there isn't any excuse to make a faulty product. Some may consider it minor, the rest of us consider it a big deal in perspective and are entitled to feel that way as well.

Also is Stigmata missing the alternate ending listed on back cover? I read a review stating that but is on the U.K. Version.
