I'm a bit gutted as I'd even left the tab open last night to remind myself to order it today and...... d'oh! "File Not Found" when I opened my browser up this morning.
I've emailed Zoom and they told that they're out of stock and because it was a limited edition they're not getting any more. I'm now in a dilemma because I'd rather have a set with a plastic case, like the US one, so if this means a regular release is on its way soon then I'll nab that one. If, however, limited means they're only releasing it once and there is no "regular" edition then I'd better get ordering from elsewhere. I think I'm going to have to err on the side of caution but as soon as I've got my limited edition I just know they're going to announce a regular one (with fixed audio/subs etc!) ![]() The joys of buying physical media, eh? ![]() Last edited by RichL; 06-27-2018 at 02:22 PM. Weirdly specific question: I’m meeting Tom Baker this weekend and would love this set signed but not sure where to get it autographed. If he signed the front cover would it rub off or smudge easily taking it on and off a shelf? Thinking getting the inside TARDIS door part done instead.

I meant if/when there's a few of these sets on a shelf with the front to back so to speak.

I'd have him sign the booklet personally, given the velcro TARDIS section almost makes it a bit of a special display piece part of the packaging anywway. Plus his signature is on the back of the booklet from a facsimilie from the 70s...a new "real" one would be cool with it.

I pre-ordered my set from Amazon a couple weeks ago (I had it ordered before that but cancelled and re-ordered for faster shipping to the US). I see it hasn't shipped yet. Should I be worried yet? I know Amazon has a record of cancelling orders or not fulfilling them when they run out of stock, but they have no problems taking your pre-order and letting you think you're getting a copy.

I'm in the UK - pre-ordered on the 7th March and am a Prime customer. My expectations are for a release day delivery (2nd July).
But, I'd expect that Amazon UK will start shipping international orders when the item is officially released... maybe others can chime in, that's just a guess ![]() |

My fear of course is by the time they get to shipping my order to the US, they will run out. It's pretty well-known by now that Amazon gives priority to Prime members, not just in terms of shipping speed, but order fulfillment also. So if places are already running out of stock, this makes me wonder just how much stock Amazon has to go around. I didn't think stock would have been an issue so early on with the release.

I doubt Amazon would be taking orders for something they wouldn't be able to fulfill. Once you've pre-ordered it would come off whatever their allocation is and it'd get switched to "unavailable" on their website if their limit was reached. I can't see them stiffing you just because you were potentially lower down on their list of priorities.
I also think they're maybe a little stricter with release dates, maybe down to having warehouse space the size of the Death Star where they're able to hold stuff until it's supposed to be released. Other sites that are less on the total global domination path seem to have received the stock earlier than anticipated and just shipped it straight out, possibly because they're just used to turning new releases around asap. Incidentally, following on from my post above, I caved in and ordered from Zavvi and my copy is apparently already on its way. |

HMV.com have gone back to using Royal Mail 48 so I doubt it'll be properly dispatched until tomorrow with an expected delivery Monday.

This set has been a bit of a balls-up as far as I'm concerned.
From the constant ferrying around of the release date to the supposed audio issues on TSE - now it's going out of stock in places where people are still waiting for dispatch emails! I received two copies yesterday, as I originally ordered from Zavvi and cancelled to order from Zoom but it was too late. Another thing I noticed, which must just be an issue with certain copies because the ones in the various YouTube unboxings don't seem to have it - the plastic trays come up right to the edge of the packaging on my cop(ies). There's absolutely no room to flip them over and get to the other discs without having to physically tilt the packaging. Other people's sets I have seen have at least a fingers' width to allow for turning the trays over - but neither of mine do! Anything I can do about this? I daren't send them back and ask for a replacement given that they seem to be going out of stock everywhere. ![]() |

So yeah, I don't trust Amazon. They are known for doing this. They also ship Prime orders first, and sometimes hold non-Prime orders for days before shipping. That's not how it's supposed to work. Prime means 2-day shipping speed, as opposed to standard shipping. That doesn't mean that they are supposed to sit on your non-Prime order for a week before shipping it out. Yet that's often what they do if you're not Prime. No other company does that. Most online shops, large and small, strive to ship orders out same day or next day when possible. Amazon purposely sits on your order for days before shipping it if you're not Prime, even if they have the item in stock. They've done this to me countless times before I joined Prime. I finally joined it to avoid this kind of crap, but US customers can't join UK Prime. |

Sadly, it's a common trend with them and will probably only get more common. |

Posts like this remind me why I never use Amazon for pre-orders, especially special limited editions. Have never been let down by HMV.com, Base.com, Zoom.co.uk or even Zavvi and bank holidays aside unlike Amazon I always get the items on release day or before. I don't understand why people will keep using a certain retailer despite being let down by them and said item being available as cheap or slightly cheaper elsewhere. Is "free" next day delivery really worth missing out on that Arrow limited edition when you can buy it the same price at HMV and still get it delivered on or before official release date? |

Only reason I use Amazon is because they're usually first to post the pre-orders, so I can fire and forget - however, as soon as I remember later on, and they're available from other e-tailers, then I move them, usually to HMV for the Pure Points, or Zoom for earlier delivery.
Amazon, usually get my business if I forget to move them. |

mar3o, ponypo - OK, fair enough. I can't say I've ever had any problems (...yet?) with anything I've pre-ordered from Amazon myself and I'm not even a Prime member but you've clearly not had quite the same experience.
My Zavvi order arrived this morning so they've clearly still got stock. I think Zoom ran out because they were the best price. I still wouldn't be too concerned that Amazon are going to magically run out just yet, however. Still not sure whether I like the fact that it's such a non-standard shape and size but I'm never that keen on fancy packaging generally as it tends to fall apart after a while. Give me a good old bog standard case any day of the week ![]() EDIT: Just noticed this morning that Amazon have done an Uber and whacked the price up (to £48.57 at time of writing) so make of that what you will.
