It's not that bad. Most of the characters are Victorian after all, and The Doctor's line can be explained by the fact he's generally blind to race.

If they wanted to end the blu-ray range on a high I thought this would be their last release.

The only people triggered by Talons of Weng-Chiang are the Doctor Who Magazine Time Team.

I've just seen a mint condition copy of the season 12 box on ebay with a starting price of £1000.

This is getting ridiculous.

Meanwhile whoever makes these decisions in the BCC is just twiddling their thumbs.

I want to buy the American version. What are the differences between the UK version? I know the box is different. But like different special features?

Nah. If they're going to end the season on a high they'll release an incomplete season with animated episodes to fill in the gaps.

Doctor Who Times is missing from the US set, but is available on VoD. The US set is also converted from 50hz to 60hz.

Do you recommend getting the US set? Or will there be the complete Tom Baker Blu ray?

It's impossible to know what the BBC will do since based on early intentions we'd have seen a non-limited version out now.

If you want it, just get it it. Though there are still faulty discs out there, I ordered from Amazon recently and it was the original faulty discs I got, I did get BBC America to send me the replacements though.

The 60i HD conversion is barely noticeable, although the SD extras suffer far more from the conversion, a lot more than I expected to be honest. Not only do they look softer, they look a bit jagged too after the downsampling from 576i to 480i. If the extras are very important, you might want to hang onto any DVDs.

It seems that at this weekend’s U.K. Comic Con that as well as announcing the animated DW Fury of the Deep they said they are reissuing the Series 12 BD boxset in the U.K.

It will again be a limited edition, but no mention of packaging.
However as limited edition won’t be materially cheaper than the original release.

Makes sense as they still want people to buy full price day 1 and they can’t afford for people to hold off waiting for price reductions in future sales.

So this time everyone has their warning pre-order or risk losing out.

It seems that the DW BD boxsets will be the UK’s own Disney Vault range.

Hopefully there'll be enough to meet demand this time.
Would be nice if it came with the error free discs too.

Why is it so difficult to not make it limited? Even people who jump on it this time probably just want a standard release, one that won't be scalped.

If they say the reissue is general release rather than a limited edition some people will hold off buying the future limited editions for £40 day 1 thinking if they wait a few years they can get a general release for £20.

That destroys the economics of these releases. They are funding all the work by selling out the limited edition at £40 a go.

I hope it's another reprint like the original packaging, but we'll see. If it's 50Hz I'll get it anyway, but it'd be nice if it was the same packaging.

I think there's enough OCD collectors with enough "Limited Edition Packaging" to keep the first release sales high until the end of the collection. After all, this is the range that had reversible covers on DVD simply because the spine design slightly changed.

What would be the best place for an Australian customer to order the UK S12 reissue? Thanks.

Don’t only Amazon and Zavvi still ship there ?
The likes of HMV only ship in UK.
