So we'll see what they'll do, I stated I understand that it's technically the fault of Amazon, but am truly hoping that the beebs is willing to help me, and others, out here. I assume it shouldn't be that crazy many that have this problem.
Amazon sent me an email saying my replacement would arrive on 30th, it didn’t. BBC support said they were manufacturing a corrected batch that would be ready for the same date. Then Amazon sent another email today saying to contact them for a replacement but when I did (90 mins later) I was told the delivery date email was a “glitch” and they wouldn’t be sending out replacements as they had no stock.

I said so as well in the email from others of which I heard that they received the email saying they'd get the corrected version, so we'll see what the BBC will do with that information. In other news, itIt seems that Amazon is now listing it as: "Temporarily out of stock." for the original listing price again. Lord knows what's up at this point.

It's the BBC's responsibility to ensure the assets and final sign-off on the encode, but beyond that they probably don't even see the sets until they are finished and ready to go. Which is when this error was caught.

If you want to argue quality control, then someone at the pressing should have been checking the right labels had been printed on. They probably just saw Doctor Who on the discs and thought it was OK. The error would have been introduced at calling up the right files to print, and no one from there until the sets were finished noticed there was an issue. Others picked up on it when they started going out, and it was then the BBC found out apparently stepped in and flagged up the error.

You can blame the BBC for a lot of things, but they aren't the only ones who can screw up.

Like Amazon, now compounding the matter with their own screw up. Truth is, there's probably very little the BBC can do about that. They don't have the clout next to Amazon with it's large monopoly to do a great deal about Amazon selling the corrected stock to other people instead of the customers they were intended for. Maybe if enough people complain, they'll consider doing a small run of corrected discs at their own expense. Yeah, not their fault but would be good PR as it's ultimately their release that is tarnished by all of this. The problem is, then you get to the bit about the BBC where they can be a bit clueless. I shiver when I recall emailing them about the Red Dwarf issue and trying to explain the situation to people who had zero clue.

Here's a word - omnishambles. Original issues (error, low print run underestimating demand) at the BBC's door. Then the replacement disc programme needed replacement discs. Then others have stepped up to the plate to ensure the reissue , done to correct some of the first set of issues, was screwed over as well.

Another Amazon mess tonight, the item came back in stock and has now sold out, looks like the replacements were put on sale by accident or something.

Yep, this is what I'm saying as it's obvious Amazon are doing this and have taken zero effort in adjusting their system to allocate the stock to the people who had erroneous sets shipped.

I managed to get a replacement for free on order just in time from the support,
hopefully it comes and its the correct version!

After being told on the 31st March to wait 5 days for the replacements and then
to find out they probably sold them tonight is a joke. Fortunately I noticed just in time, but from what I've read it was on sale for a good 30 to 40 mins before I noticed so I'm guessing they all gone for good now.

Unless it was even more copies of the recall version that had been recently sent back, just going around in cricles.

Unfortunately I‘ve also received a copy with season 10 disc labels from Amazon.

I‘m happy to at least have this season with the collectible packaging now, but of course it would be nicer to have the correct artwork on the discs.

Which email address are you using for contacting the BBC?

The manufacturer would have sent a proof to someone at the BBC who is responsible for it being signed off so it should have been caught before a week before the original re-release of three weeks ago.

So as well as the manufacturer the person in charge of the sets at the BBC has some responsibility to bear as well.

Yes we recognise the original release was problematic to say the least ...

It all started with the words 'Limited Edition Packaging '

I got today an Amazon e-mail saying they wouldn't be able to replace the faulty set, and I would get a full refund.

After that, got the e-mail they're processing the refund, etc.

Yeah, Amazon is washing their hands clean of their screw up. Somewhere someone green-lit the shipment of the incorrect copies and seemingly no one else who should've known about the error was told about the incorrect copies. I honestly feel for the poor reps, getting so many people over them with the same complaint, all which were easily avoidable if those responsible for the shipment back to the BBC paid proper attention.

With the amount of hits against this range surely it's in intensive care by this point?

Got another response of the BBC, long story short, seems that the BBC will come through on this one and is now investigating when they'll be able to produce and send the new discs due to the Covid-19 situation.

I'm extremely happy with them and literally jumped in the air when I received the email just now. Whoever is pushing for these fixes, here's one to you!

Quote:
Hi,

We wanted to reach out to you with the most up to date information regarding your original query. Following continued liaison with our retail partners, we have been informed that in this instance replacement boxsets for Doctor Who – The Collection Season 12 will not be sent out from your original retailer.

This is not the communication we were expecting, but we are working with our manufacturers to see what can be done to make sure that you are able to receive the correct discs so you are able to have the complete high quality product you would expect from our Doctor Who Boxsets. The current COVID-19 pandemic is likely to impact the time scale in which we are able to produce the replacements but we will be in touch once we have confirmed dates.

We kindly request your receipt of purchase along with your shipping address so we can keep a record of where these replacements should be sent out to when they do become available.

We sincerely apologise for the possible confusion caused whilst working to resolve this issue with our retail partners, and we thank you for your continued patience and support.

Kind regards,
BBC DVD Support

Heard a rumour that we should be coming up for a new boxset announcement any day now.
Anyone know if that's likely to be the case?

Any ideas what season may be next after 14?
Hopefully another Pertwee or Davidson.

Rumours are pointing towards Season 20, reason for this is that the crew of that season was seen together being filmed for a new blu-ray set. Though it of course could be for the one after the upcoming one. So we'll see, but 20 is coming this year, that much is clear.

Cool.
The Peter Davison era is the one I grew up with (I was eight years old during transmission of season 20) and I look forward to reliving my childhood when watching these classics.
It remains to be seen if The Five Doctors 25th anniversary special will be included in the season or released on it's own.
