I'm tempted to order it from multiple places and then return copies if more than one arrive.

And based on other comments I've seen it's not just about buying into the limited edition packaging. I've read somewhere (could be a post on gallifrey base) that the BBC have said they have no intention of re-releasing these in standard packaging.

They'd be mad in the head not to reissue given the demand.

Since when has anyone at the BBC ever been sane?

That's not what Steve Roberts said. Why wouldn't they want a cheap standard edition out?

season 1 has 9 episodes i believe missing in all the least i think in any of the 60's seasons that is the least i think? i'm guessing IF they are smart and Phil Morris is too and he is a smart guy i think too.. that he will hopefully in December on missing Believed wiped
which is is suppose to be on this year i hear in December for those who don't know.

i'm hoping and praying he reveals more of what he has found. maybe even letting us have season 1 on blu-ray by saying he Found those 9 episodes and than maybe the savages as well. we can only hope

I live in the states so we didn't get the good release the Limited Edition one but to hazard a guess maybe they didn't expect to sell those things that quickly? makes me think of a concert i think Monty Python when they came back a couple years back they sold out like in 10 seconds and than the next time i think it was in 15 seconds!

it was my guess like that for season 12 and maybe that shocked the BBC but for some reason they just haven't done another release for some reason or another which is just plain stupid since it is damn near September

Two of the 9 episodes missing from season 1 have been animated, however. Marco Polo (7 eps) is really the only big issue with season 1. Likewise season 2 only has two episodes missing (from The Crusade), which is why I'm really surprised they haven't animated that yet. Do those two and you have an entire 60s season ideal for the Blu boxset treatment.

Perhaps their game plan is to release each living Doctor's first season first? I would guess that when they sat down with Baker for his new material that they filmed more for subsequent seasons, and again the same with Davidson. Makes sense to get a chance to have each of them sit down for the cameras while we still have them, as well as get out a sampling of each Doctor for fans new and old alike. So perhaps next will be Colin followed after by Sylvester?

As much as I'd love to have continued chronologically with Tom Baker season 2 and on next, I'm okay with that plan. These look to be the final definitive sets for Classic Who.

The two missing episodes from The Crusade are rumoured to be among what Phil Morris has. Perhaps WW either know this for sure, or don't know but don't want to animate them and then later find out that it was all for nothing.

As someone who's clueless about the BTS stuff regarding missing episodes, why wouldn't he announce what he has as he finds it? I see a few of these posts such as "Episodes x of Y are rumoured to be part of the discoveries" but I don't get the logic of keeping them secret. I'm sure it's something obvious that I haven't thought about.

Phil's argument is that it imperils returns and future finds. The Web 3 story is the basis for this - he found it, he told certain people within the Beeb, and then somehow, someone contacted the station in question in Nigeria and episode 3 was pilfered.

He won't announce anything else until his search is completed. The problem is, how long is a piece of string? He's always finding new avenues for enquiry so e search seems like a never ending odyssey to those waiting to hear what he's found. Consequently we can only work on rumour and supposition until Phil decides it's time.

Yeah, I emailed the BBC DVD folks to ask if Season 12 would get a repressing or a re-release in vanilla packaging and they replied, quite pointedly, no: it's was limited edition, it's sold out, there won't be any more.

A shame -- it makes me hesitant to buy the S19 and future boxsets knowing I'll forever have a gap where S12 should be on my shelf.

Because making it public could prejudice potential negotiations with a third party which might be at a delicate stage. Personally I believe that nothing further has been found or returned at this point.

More fool them if that's the case.

If you really want the Season 12 set I'd set up alerts on Amazon UK and Ebay and play the waiting game until an affordable copy eventually turns up.

I think if he has anything else it’ll be The Web of Fear episode 3.

didnt know the Tom Baker season 1 set was rare or Limited edition. Im in the states and walked into my local Best Buy and picked up a set 2 weeks ago just past my birthday and it was on sale for $44 USD. Why on earth would that make this a limited edition with no other pressings, that makes no practical sense unless its just a ploy to boost sales and create a want for it so they can release later. Its also the first collection on blu-ray. I would think they want sell as many as they can worldwide! Glad to see the preorders up for Peter Davison season 1 blu-ray. I was hoping it would be Pertwee, but im fine with it.

The UK set is the Limited Edition and is rare.

It's stupid to not do a re-print with corrected discs. Even if they made it in a standard case, it would be better than nothing for my British friends.

Thanks guys. That makes some sense, especially given the previous bad experience.

The reason Phil Morris doesn't announce what he has is because he doesn't have anything. Web & Enemy were found 7 years ago. They were the best selling classic who dvd releases. There is every incentive for the bbc to get more back. If there was anything else recovered you'd be watching it now. As much as I understand this wishful thinking its already been demonstrated that Morris continually contradicts himself or outright fibs. The fact that he could 'lose' Web 3 after finding it should tell you something. More missing episodes will come back in the usual ways, film collectors will have some. odds & sods will pop up over time.
