How do you even know this is a one disc set?

The product type says single, but so does the one for the 10-film collection, and that certainly won't be one disc.

That said I hope we get a decent number of new to blu ones. They restored a bunch of shorts for hbomax and I'd love for some of those restorations to land here.

This also probably won't be a popular opinion but I'd love to see more of the 60s shorts on these collections (they are planning at least 2 based on that title). That era is underrepresented on the Platinum and Golden collections.

Still waiting for Stars of Space Jam 2

I would like to see more of the 60's shorts as well, I honestly don't mind the Daffy and Speedy shorts, and would like to see more of the DePatie Freleng and W7 era, which have barely featured, as they are still part of the cartoon's history.

The Golden Collection had 4 of the DePatie Frelengs (Pancho's Hideaway, Zip Zip Hooray!, The Wild Chase and A-Haunting We Will Go) and 1 W7 (Norman Normal). while Platinum had just one DePatie Freleng (A-Haunting We Will Go) and no W7's. Cool Cat has yet to be featured at all.

It would be nice to have more Foghorn Leghorn too, as I think he has been the least represented major character in terms of featured cartoons versus number made, 34 cartoons including the post-1969 ones, but only 7 appearances on Golden and 4 on Platinum. He never got his own disc on Golden, and when he got a Superstars disc, he wasn't in 6 of the cartoons featured!

When did Beanstalk Bunny get destroyed in a fire? Do we know what other shorts where lost in that fire?

For a reason…but I wouldn’t mind a bunch of those if they had loads of the original Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies from the early to mid 30s to balance them out (Warner movie songs + early 30s style in B&W = Yum.)

Rabbit Stew and Rabbit's Too is under underrated, as is McKimson's first Coyote/Roadrunner cartoon: Rushing Roulette which is miles ahead of Rudy Larriva's

Yeah even if the series was winding down I do want to see them dip into that era, especially since a ton of those cartoons got restored for hbomax and metv. I know the limited animation is reviled by some catoon fans, but I watched a ton of Hanna Barberra shows as a kid so I find a certain charm in that look.

The difference is that the early shorts, the 30s ones are much better represented on disc. The golden collections 5 and 6 had entire disc's dedicated to that stuff and to be honest, I really found it hard to watch. A lack of any of the classic cast, Mel Blanc, and an animation style that looks so far away from the iconic look of Looney Tunes. Even if the series was declining in the late 60s, and it was starting to look Hanna Barbaraish, I still find that to be a prefable thing to the old rubber house/flesiher animation from the 30s.

Hopefully it has many of the Platinum Vol 2 cartoons, as I have Volumes 1 and 3, but wasn't able to get Volume 2.

Someone is probably just getting mixed up about the MGM cartoons, which did lose the nitrate-era negatives (except for a few) in the 1965 MGM fire. Beanstalk Bunny was also a 1955 release, so it's well after they phased out nitrate for photography.

A Wild Hare, the Hunting Trilogy, and Wabbit Twouble all seem likely for double-dips, or at least essential.

Sorry, It's been rumored that the original negative in WB's vaults has been sustained to negative damage

Which shows how much WB cared about cartoons then

As always I'm anxious for any Looney Tunes release. But honestly if I have to purchase 20 cartoons to get 5 new ones I'm not convinced to buy it. I have the Golden Collection all Platinum Collections, Bugs Bunny 80th, numerous other releases, Tex Avery volumes and all of them have the same problem. Repeat releases, incomplete series etc. How about give us ALL the Looney Tunes in chronological order in one big BD set. Yea it'll be expensive but I'll buy it because doing this piecework is costing me way more and I'm still missing alot of damn cartoons. Just my take everyone's got their own opinion.

It's gonna be tough years with just Bosko and then Buddy

Over 100 cartoons until Tex saves the day with Gold Diggers of 49

I had the first four volumes of the Golden Collections on DVD, and I ended up selling them prematurely, as I had intended to replace them with the Blu-ray editions. I never did get around to replacing them, and I've been without any Looney Tunes ever since.

With the recent news of Looney Tunes (and The Flintstones) being removed from HBOMax, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that WB is prepping a lot of releases of their animated films as part of their 100th Anniversary celebration in 2023. At the and of the day, I just want be able to own as many, if not all the Looney Tunes on physical media, before it's lost forever, or locked away in a vault and/or changed because it's not politically correct for some people. These things need to be saved, preserved and watched!

The people at the WB Archives care.

There is the tiniest of possibilities that with WB's 100th Anniversary this year, and the removal of Looney Tunes on HBOMax, that there might be plans to get this stuff out on physical disc for us collectors. The feeling I get from the new WB Discovery regime is that they're pretty anti-woke, and Looney Tunes which are considered by some to be politically incorrect, isn't going to deter them from re-releasing it to the collectors who actually want it. Also makes sense for them to pull it from streaming if they want to cash in on physical media.

Yeah this is a big reason why I wouldn't want them to do chronological order. The early LT stuff is honestly crap. The series really came into its own once people like Text Avery, Chuck Jones, Friz Freleng, Bob Clampett, etc. Came around and characters like Bugs, Daddy, Porky, etc. Settled into their classic iterations.

I don't know why they can't do some sort of Warner Archive release, those are basically printed as needed I thought? People are saying the restorations on a lot of cartoons we never got on blu are already done. I guess Warner doesn't want my money, sad.

For some reason, Only Warner Home Entertainment (Aka Sleepwalking Studios) can release Looney Tunes and Scooby Doo stuff as opposed to Warner Archive that gives a darn about classic Animation
