So what now, April Fool's Day has joined the ranks of "holidays" that we begin observing with a "season" two months early?!?

Disney and... Mill Creek?

Mill Creek also has the best deal with Sony. They must be very agreeable to the studios, almost willing to release anything they get, and probably giving the studio a higher profit share.

Honestly, if they can get films released on blu-ray that we have been asking for what seems like forever, then I say "have at it". I wouldn't mind getting four packs of films that we have always wanted. We all know that Mill Creek isn't going to do all that great but they can get a lot of films out quickly. Just look at the last time they had a deal with Disney. Sure, most of those discs weren't all that great but they were getting them out at a very low cost. I would love to see Comedy or Action 4-packs with films we have always wanted. This could be a very good thing. Also, I am just glad that companies are still doing deals to release physical media.

I don't expect big things from this but if it's a way to get something I want that Disney won't bother with, I'm ok with it... as long as Mill Creek doesn't Mill Creek too hard and ruin the quality. I could see Fox TV titles like New Girl, Last Man Standing, Raising Hope, This Is Us or Scream Queens finally getting a release, maybe a complete Glee set. Do a set for Don't Trust the B in Apt 23 and do a storyline episode order like with Happy Endings because they held off a lot of season 1 episodes and aired them throughout season 2 instead.

If this gets me one step closer to blu-rays of 'Ruthless People' and 'Malcolm in the Middle' or 'Arrested Development' on bluray than by all means.

Not only animation, it seems that this deal is only for properties that aren't labeled as "Disney".

Honestly, thinking about it a little more, the TV properties is probably the most interesting thing here. Hoping some long OOP stuff can resurface, and wonder if we'll get Mill Creek bargain-bin BD treatment for stuff like How I Met Your Mother that just has extant HD masters sitting around. Arrested Development could get a US release also! 24 also screams out to me as an obvious pick.

There are plenty of Fox TV titles ready to go but never released in English speaking territories like 24.

Also, HD versions of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and Land of the Giants exist.

If I was told I could have one boutique handling the Disney/Fox stuff Mill Creek would be the last one I'd choose. I GUESS I'm glad we'll see stuff released but are we just going to get old transfers? most likely

I personally hope for a Blu-ray release of Buffy with a proper restoration.

Totally agree. There are certainly some titles in this catalogue that could benefit from a restoration from the likes of Arrow or another label, but for many of the films that could get a release through this deal, I think Mill Creek will be just fine. Especially given the price point. These titles obviously weren’t high on Disney’s priority list, and with Disney’s scattered and somewhat unpredictable approach to physical media, that we’re getting catalogue releases at all is truly a win, in my opinion. Looking forward to some announcements!

Kinda bummed (but not at all surprised) that this doesn’t include Disney-branded films, as there are still so many in desperate need of HD physical releases, but hopefully Disney will get to those eventually.

Possibility of getting a few others that would seem to be in line with MC that I didn't put in the other post, like:

ONLY THE STRONG
LESS THAN ZERO
HOT SHOTS series
NUNS ON THE RUN
COME SEE THE PARADISE
GREAT EXPECTATIONS
SWIMFAN
SHOPGIRL
THE FAMILY STONE
ONLY THE LONELY
SHINING THROUGH
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
THE CHASE
BEVERLY HILLBILLIES
KISS OF DEATH
THE SCOUT
BACK IN THE USSR
LOVE POTION NO 9

If the Anchor Bay/Starz licenses are no longer in a quagmire and reverted back to Fox, maybe a re-issue of some of those long out of print titles: LICENSE TO DRIVE, LUCAS, DUTCH, DYING YOUNG, PROJECT X, AIRHEADS, etc.

But I doubt they got THE BEACH. And definitely won't have any of the Cameron stuff, including (sadly) STRANGE DAYS.

While I hope this means the door is open to other boutiques, this is good news and hopefully means shows like The Golden Girls and M*A*S*H are open to licensing.

Yes, gimme that Don’t Trust the B complete series Blu-ray! I had re-order the episodes myself because I couldn’t stand to watch the out-of-order madness of the DVD set anymore.

Mill Creek was so close to getting the Happy Endings set right. If only they’d put “Kickball 2: The Kickening” in S02!

A lot of people here are literally begging Disney to farm out the Fox and Touchstone properties they won’t release.

Mill Creek wins the bid (again) and you all act like babies. There are only two choices for most non Walt Disney branded titles right now: Disney+ or digital purchase. Judging by some of you none of these are an option. Mill Creek has improved but this is Disney and I doubt they’ll give Mill Creek free reign, these like the previous MC and Kino releases will be controlled by Disney in terms of content.
