I was able to squeeze out that extra DB when calibrating each sub. I otherwise hadn't seen this feature in other AVRs/processors to that point, and now there's a model with 4 independent sub controls.
Definitely convenient, but unless I'm missing something, isn't the work around to turn off one sub, set the sub level to 0 in the pre/pro and then adjust the gain on the sub itself and then do the same for the other sub?

Actually what I was referring to has more to do with fine tuning additional subs to maximize gain/output. I had added a 3rd sub, and in theory (or as I understand it anyway), an additional sub should net +6 db, but I was only getting +4 initially with the 3rd sub. Once everything was level-set, having multiple sub controls allowed me to adjust relative distance and phase from the listening positions, which got me to the defacto +6 db. It actually took more effort before I could get it to that point to adjust the delays/phase, but that's for another day lol.

Marantz AMP10 16 channel power amplifiers was just allocated to us and will be shipped next week, Jan. 16th.

We'll be pairing it with Marantz's new AV10 15.4 channel a/v pre-pro processor in our new high-end theater.

Hey Robert, any news to report on the AV 10/AMP 10 combo yet?

Marantz's AMP10 just shipped, but have not arrived yet.

For now we're using Marantz's AV10 with NAD's 8 channel power amplifiers in our new high-end theater.

How does the AV 10 sound and operate?

Marantz's new AV10 15.4 channel A/V Processor is a dream.

Other than it's exceptional A/V performance we're loving all of the full HDMI 2.1 inputs and outputs that gives the users the ability to make a large complex system easy to operate and manage.

HDCP handshaking is quick and reliable and the unit is quiet (no noticeable fan noise)

The audio is very clear and detailed with the full dynamic tonal range that gives all of the multi-channels audio more depth. Movies have a more emotional feeling and deep rich audio that can reach all of the high points when needed very clearly and accurately.

We have Marantz's AV10 set-up in a very high-end theater with JVC's NZ9 and Sony's VPL-XW7000ES and all high-end Perlisten's 5.2.4 speakers.

Awesome to hear, that was the type of analysis I was looking for. Come bonus time, I might be giving you folks a call.

A fantastic "guts and all" view/design description of the AV 10 and AMP 10 units:

Just placed my order today, WOOF, that was some sticker shock. My AV 10 should arrive in about a week or so.

Nice! Congrats! Looking forward your impressions, and hopefully pics, too.

I'm tempted. But I can't justify the cost right now coming off a major speaker and TV upgrade last summer (and also a living room/HT makeover), and also being that I have absolutely no reason to replace my pre-pro which I'm 1000% happy with and isn't even 3 years old yet. But I kind'a miss my Marantz AV7005 from just over 10 years ago... sigh.

Thanks, man! I get ya, as I've mentioned elsewhere, I have owned so much gear over the years that I really don't upgrade a piece of equipment until I feel it's worth the money. That being said, after spending 15 years with my Integra DTC-9.8 pre/pro, I feel as though I've gotten plenty of useful life out of it. It's served me well over that time...I've never had an a single issue with it, it still performs admirably to this day and still looks brand new, but it's time. I mean shoot, I only upgraded my basement HT TV six months ago after 13 years.

Good stuff! I remember when Integra released that model. I was mulling over it and the PR-SC 885 which if I recall was the equivalent Onkyo version of the DTC 9.8. But then I caught wind of the the upcoming PR-SC886 and got that instead when it released.

I had to adopt the same approach with A/V gear the last 10+ years. Otherwise back when I first joined, this forum and the other one that claims to be for science was starting to drain my wallet. I went through 3 processors in a period of 4 years (the 886 and Marantz AV7005 among them) between 2008-2012 due to my uncontrolled and seemingly non-stop visits to audio forums.

Haha yep, you nailed it, those two units were related.

Hey @Robert Zohn - There's rumblings on another site about hearing "crackling" in some of the speaker channels with the AV 10...have you heard anything like this on your unit or from any of your customers?

@RageATL, no I have not.

We have the AV10 connected to the AMP10 in one of our demo theater and it performs beautifully. We've sold 14 so far and all of the customer feedback has been nothing but excellent.

Not sure if their are other issues causing the "crackling", but for all high-end audio devices it's very important to have the speaker wires very well terminated at the speakers and to the amplifier.

From what I've read, it's apparently an issue that's affecting the front height and/or wide channels and is occurring to folks that are running with the AMP 10 as well as other amps. From what I understand, the issue has already been raised to Marantz engineering.

Thanks for the update @RageATL . I'll test our AV10 today with my attention to the heights and wide speakers.
