Default Spanish retreat

Hey guys whats up my Names Brad, im 18 and this is my living room. My Samsung surround sound just died, it was 6 years old, but I think its time to upgrade it to a more professional system, the Onkyo S9100 THX 7.1, I will post some pics once its all setup (Its being shipped as we speak).

Im just trying to figure out speaker placement for the 7.1 right now, just looking for some opinions. There is about 30 feet behind the couch from where the pic was taken from, so it makes things difficult

First.... I'd try to get a receiver, and a L/R/C speaker and build from there..... other than that... for placement you'll have to use some stands for beside/behind the sofa.....

Good luck.... and welcome aboard!

I agree with Beta. If you want a more "professional" setup, you will probably not want to go with a Home Theater in a Box (HTiB). Not sure what your exact budget is, but if it around $1000, then you have some really good options.

And, Dude, quit living in the future.

When I wrote, "quit living in the future," that was my sad little attempt of joking about this.

BTW, nice place.

For $1K, I would look at getting a receiver and speakers separately. The Polk 6750's are always well received. You can also look into Klipsch and Mirage speaker systems. As far as receivers, there are Onkyo's, Denon's, Sony's, and Yamaha's to choose from. This will probably give you an overall better quality system than you would get in the Onkyo 9100 HTiB.

In the end, you need to listen to various setup and determine what you like. Honestly, every receiver/speaker combination can and will probably sound a little different.

Good luck on your quest!
