Arrow Fritz Lang on Blu-ray

I just finished watching the first part of Fritz Lang's Die Nibelungen last night, and I was just blown away. The film is an amazing achievement, considering when it was made . The same can of course be said about Metropolis, one of the most influential films of our time. Lang had such an impressive, and varied body of work, spanning from fantasy, to Sci-Fi, to Film noir, and wartime thrillers. I believe this work should be seen by all, so I figured we should have a centralized thread to discuss his work available on Blu-ray, and for newcomers to learn more about his films.

It's always fun to see old wishlists like this 2014 post and know they eventually happened.

I just watched Fury, stunning film!

Sadly, I've only seen Ministry of Fear and M, both of which were outstanding. I'll have to check out more of his titles.

So far, I've liked everything I own that Fritz Lang directed, M, Dr.Mabuse: The Gambler, Metropolis, The Testament of Dr.Mabuse, & The Big Heat. I hope to get Frau Im Mond, Spione, Die Nibelungen, Scarlet Street,Man Hunt, & Secret Beyond The Door. He is one of the greatest Directors.

Spione, I forgot about that one. I don't think anyone added it to the DB yet

Great thread!

I own all of the Region A playable Fritz Lang Blu-rays except for Die Nibelungen. I need to scratch that itch and pull the trigger on Die Nibelungen soon, because everything else that I own from the director is marvelous.

My collection includes the above-listed Spanish disc of You Only Live Once, and I will verify that it is a good-looking disc that is English friendly both in terms of audio and subtitles.

The Big Heat and Man Hunt are two of my favorite Twilight Time titles.

Great thread idea, Mifune.

I have seen a handful of his films, both available and not available on Blu-ray, and nothing comes close to Metropolis for me. It's one of the greatest films to ever be made about humanity.

Thanks MifuneFan for this thread and for the head up on few of his films I didn't know was on BD. Many Lang films are my favourites.

Also I recommend the Italian You Only Live Once, does anybody know of the differences between the Italian and the Spanish BDs?

I just ordered Die Nibelungen at long last.

Fritz Lang is one of my favorite directors of all time, but I had put off ordering Die Nibelungen because the idea of watching a five-hour silent movie has seemed mildly daunting. I have a feeling that I'll get a kick out of it, though.

Yeah, I've had my BD for a few years, but the runtime always made me put off watching it. But a few months ago I said enough is enough, and I watched it over the course of 2 or 3 days. It was a great experience, and I'm sure you'll love it. It's technically 2 films, and the tone is quite different in them, so it wouldn't hurt to split them up if you had to.

The second half of Die Nibelungen bored me to tears. Siegfried however (the first half) was amazing and engaging.

Good news for Region A folks, Kino has confirmed that they are releasing Women in the Moon, Spies, and Dr. Mabuse the Gambler next year. They're also making a Fritz Lang boxset which will presumably have some/all of these in them! I'm so glad these are finally coming out stateside

I made a thread about it here: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=264483

It just makes me really angry that Eureka is unwilling to upgrade The Indian Epic to bd when they've already released it on sd as part of the MoC series years ago. It has obviously already been released in Germany, but with no English subs that release is pretty useless to me.
really wish more people would ask Eureka to upgrade this title to bd.
