Default Google Play movies No fullscreen?

An issue thats bugged me from using google play movies is that some of the movies are unable to use the "expanding playback size feature" and are left with black bars covering 40% of the screen. Some movies on google play like transformers 3 have this feature, and some like inception, do not. Anyone else have this issue?
I use a nexus 10 if that helps.

I don't think there are many people who use google play for videos.

Is it possible to use a 3rd party video player to play it then?

You could try the youtube app under the purchases tab, but I have no idea if that's your solution. Until video providers go drm-free, you're stuck in that ecosystem and more specifically those particular apps.

Well if someone has purchased the winter soldier, let me know if it has the expand screen feature.
