This is interesting. I was actually just reading an article that mentioned Sony tried to broker a deal with iTunes to have it up for sale/rent, apparently even requesting the help of the President and the White House, but Apple turned them down.

Probably a smart move by Apple, as my guess is they turned this down for fear of being targeted by hackers.

Here is a link to the article if anyone is interested:

It is not UV-enabled from any retailer, so far.

As a matter of fact, the only place to purchase is Google Play, right? They aren't partnering up with UV anytime soon.

As OP states, it is also available to purchase from YouTube, and the XBOX Store, but as has been mentioned, none of those services participate in UV.

You can also buy from XBox Video, I got it from Google Play to watch on my big screen through Chromecast.

With it being available via XBox, it seems that Microsoft has bigger ballz than Apple

I am suprised that Sony Pictures didn't put it on the Sony Playstation Store. I called Vudu and they don't know when/if they will get it.

The rep I talked to at Vudu today said that they are currently negotiating a Vudu release with Sony but if it's not up before the weekend they expect it to be on there 2 weeks before DVD/Blu-Ray release like normal.

tbdave
posted over on the Vudu forums that the representative that he talked to at Vudu said they would not be getting it. Here is what he posted:

I called the Vudu customer support line, and she said they weren't going to get it. Too bad. I would have bought it.

Hopefully buying the movie on seetheinterview.com counts as a Sony Pictures Store purchase. Which would than eventually be added to your UltraViolet locker.

Not gonna happen; that site is being run for Sony by an outside company called Kernel. The only viable UV option right now is to wait for Vudu or some other UV provider.
