This will end up as being the longest running "roadshow" of all time.

Really hoping this means they are planning to offload their library to mondo macabro.

And, in particular, hoping this means that High Crime doesn’t get wasted on a mediocre release (wherever it comes from)

Speaking for MM, at this time we have no plans to do any more films from the First Line/Dorado library.

To be honest, I think most of the rights to the "big films" in their catalog are expiring in the next couple of years, including HIGH CRIME and CRIMES OF THE BLACK CAT. So making a deal doesn't really make sense.

Can you double check? HIGH CRIME and CRIMES OF THE BLACK CAT are their 2 best titles and neither has had a DVD release.

There's no reason to double check. Their rights are expiring and we enough on our plate as it is.

Here's hoping their Larraz titles go, too. And that some good labels snap them up.

High Crime is definitely getting a release at some point in the UK from Studio Canal as it was passed by the BBFC in January.

From their facebook

Quote:
Jess Franco Vol. 2 will be shipping out 02/04/20 through 02/06/20 to all the preorders who are still waiting. The picture here is the disc case contents, a few adjustments are getting finalized and ready to implement for the final run through.

You the pre-ordering customers will get 12 picture cards, 2 mini posters, 2 booklets, the disc with two films and a special video from Antonio Mayans, clear case with two sided cover art.

Thank you all for your support and patience, we feel the final product should be liked by most of you, and of course we are extremely embarrassed and sorry for the length of time this has been.

All the best from Dorado, and happy holidays!

DFI

Looks like it might actually happen now. Has it been two years or three? I forget, what was
the original release date for the Franco set? and what was the secondary release date? I'm
not as curious about Franco as I used to be, having watched over a hundred of his films on
blu-ray, but it will be nice to complete the shelf.

My order was placed on 6/27/2017. So it's been about 2 1/2 years we've been waiting. This has to be a record for the longest pre-order ever. LOL

I paid for mine July 2017. Fortunately I haven't moved since then.

Seven From Texas -- Dorado inadvertently used the wrong German subtitles (Google-Translated from Spanish). If anybody wants the correct German subs in an SRT file, send me a PM.

Hey guys!

I got in touch with RICK KNIGHT in 2011 or so, when he was working on "The Fantastic Argoman". They presumibly did a 2K transfer from a 35mm print stored in a French professional film archive.
I guess the 2012 DVD comes from that 2K digital source anyway, so the movie has been properly preserved --- thank God.
Have you any confirmation about it?

I do not have it but was reading about it just now.
Pasting some text....

Although the label advertises the inclusion of the opening sequence,
they did it the poorest way possible.
They integrated the scene very lame into the DVD menu,
with skewed picture and a rattling noise imitating a cine projector.

The main feature itself looks great despite Dorado again mastered the DVD with a hard 3:2 NTSC pulldown.
The issue could've been resolved by recording it to fine smooth PAL.

The latest in the epic Dorado saga (from Facebook)....

Quote:
The release is still happening, we lost our lease for the building after it was sold,we had to crate everything up and be out in a month, so we had everything scattered into storage areas for the past several weeks.
Added to this, our main go to associate who handles all the various aspects of the replication, printing and shipping details, had to fly back to Europe for a family member's illness and consequential death, which understandably left things hanging, during her sad reunion with her family.
We expect to spend another couple weeks getting things back in order, then will polish off the Franco vol. 2 for you folks who are waiting.
Currently our phone number and address website etc. are all down during our relocation process, once we have restored the balance, we will get this information out to the public again. It is pretty much a complete restructuring event for
Dorado, so going forward with future business, hopefully will prove to be a positive step, for the badly damaged label. Mistakes going forward can not be repeated, those who are still attached to the company, recognize this fact better then anyone.
We have little to no time to answer all of your questions, unfortunately, but the main gist is yes Dorado is still hanging in there, and yes the Jess Franco release is still coming in the near weeks ahead. Once we get resettled and have all the files and computers available for access,we will give you the new shipping date. It will not be months ahead just a few more weeks.
Sorry for the out of touch and unreachable access to those of you who have been trying to contact us, we will be available again very soon, and post here when we are.
Good night, Day or Morning, wherever you may be.

Dorado sounds like that one co-worker/friend that has an excuse for everything that happens to them.

Just resumed my old mails with Rick Knight. Well, "Argoman" has been scanned from the original negatives at 2K.
Rick also told me that the "Argoman" DVD is almost sold out, so there's a chance for the blu-ray to happen.
Who talked about 4K anyway?
