The second thing was how fast they are. If I was to guess, I would have assumed they were planars, which I like.

I might have a review of the Verite out next week. It depends. Getting my tonsils pulled in a couple days, so I don't know if I'll have a voice after that for a while.
You could use subtitles...just sayin'...

This Friday I should have a 'new' headphone come in...just pulled the trigger on it this morning. It's almost a decade old but looks to be in pristine shape. Wasn't really looking for it nor really had the spare money for it, but I just couldn't let it go by... debated it in my head for about a week. Will definitely need to sell off a few headphones ASAP and maybe my very rare original Bandai US Blu-ray release of Jin Roh. Not exhorbantly expensive, at a little over $600, but still quite a chunk of change for me. Any guesses? Only hints - previously given price point and it's a special anniversary model that is highly regarded.

Well done

Your observations echo my own findings.
Keep up the great reviews.

Well, here's a closeup of the headphone I got in...

LOL

And here's the 'headphone':

The more I listen to these this evening, the more I think about selling the L300 Limiteds. These 404 Limiteds are intimate like an L300 but with subbass and fullness beyond the L700/L300 Limited and somehow the details just come out more... just WOW! The opinions/reviews about these are right! Only problem is comfort... my L300 Limited is MUCH more comfortable...these are in between L300 and L700/modded L300 Limited comfort level - thankfully not as bad as stock L300 but ears still pressing against the protective screens and you feel it. The L700/modded L300 Limited are VERY comfortable in comparison with no touching.

I would like to try Stax some day, but I am afraid I would like them too much.
Then again... I'm getting pretty "settled" with my stuff now, so I am not as worried as I would have been a few years ago haha

Congrats. I hope it's all your dreams come true, and THEN some!

I must say that the Verite has really shown itself to be a pretty stellar headphone.
It has about 300+ hours of music playing through it now, and the speed/precision still remains, but it's also slightly rounded out the highs to very very slightly reduce some of the "snap" that caused a little bit of ear fatigue for me.

I have a feeling that my review of this (if I do one) will be quite extensive, since it does have a different personality when used with SS versus tube. Both work great with it, though.

That Yggy YouTube episode is hard for me to watch lol.
[Show spoiler]I got my tonsils pulled, and realized I wasn't in as much pain when I sat up in my hospital bed, so I started editing the episode. I was kind of drugged out and drowzy, still in a lot of pain. After 4-6 hours I realized I somehow removed/spliced out and mis-timed a camera angle, and basically destroyed the video. I went to sleep, woke up all sore, and spent 10 hours trying to clean it up. It was 10 hours of cleaning up an editing mess left before I fell asleep.
But THEN, I was using a laptop on a 1440p TN panel. Not only hard to edit with less pixels compared to 3440x1440, but colors were all wrong, and so the colors are way too contrasty and saturated on the final release. It sounds "OK", but in the end, I was just trying to repair the mess I made the day before. So, it's not what I intended.
Also, that's why there were no joke intros or anything. I was in the hospital.

The V281 and Verite episodes will probably be done back to back so I can get them out there, once my throat stops hurting.
The tonsillectomy went alright, but throat is healing, so talking more than a couple minutes at low volume doesn't feel too good right now.
After the next two episodes, I will be semi-retired (since I don't get a steady flow of headphone stuff, haha).

Well, got another episode out.
I might have another 2 or 3 left. After that, I might move on to another YouTube series.

We have the same gear.
Yggy *check*
V281 *check*

Only difference is HP's themselves. You cant go wrong with Yggy > V281. Very compelling pieces of equipment.

I noticed that. We aren't in synch with tube amps; I don't have the WA22, or any Woo Audio products. The V281 and Yggy are a spectacular combination, that's for sure.
I want to replace my Bottlehead amps with a high-end OTL, and also purchase a great SET amp. Not sure about which OTL to get yet, but I've spent years and years collecting my headphone junk. I'm not in a real hurry to complete the final few items in my collection. It's never "end-game", of course. There's always something I would like to have. However, I'm close to being "happy enough. For now."

I put in an order for the DNA Stratus. It won't be ready until around November, but I can wait.

2 questions:
How much, since they don't have prices on their site?
Can you choose a color other than that blue?

1. The Stratus is $3k, and you make an initial deposit.
I think the Stellaris is $8,000. However, prices are always subject to change.
2. Nope.

I recommend e-mailing. Quick response time, and he provides helpful advice.

I agree. Yggy and V281 is all that.
WA22 adds very little. It's there but it's very little.

I just have no desire to change anything.
It is going to take one hell of a HP with a lot of great reviews to get me to put down the Aeon Flow. To my ears it is bang on.

No desire to change HP hardware.
