A rather pointless looking 30th Anniversary Edition of My Neighbour Totoro

£104.99 RRP it seems, which is absolutely disgusting and a typical example of how distributors treat anime fans like a bottomless well of money.

The Art of My Neighbour Totoro Hardcover Book is currently £14.38 on amazon
My Neighbour Totoro Optimum BD is currently £11 on amazon

This set is currently £80 on amazon, so you're paying £55 for some artcards, a 16’ x 24’ poster, a Magnetic sticker set, and a ****ing heavy cotton tote bag!

To make matters worse, it's only "limited" to 1000 copies, so it's gonna take a good deal of time before its worth extends beyong its RRP, if it ever will!

I notice Steelbooks for Porco Rosso and Whisper Of The Heart have popped up on Amazon for release on the 17th of December. Typically the Ghibli Steelbooks have been Zavvi exclusives, but I can't find them listed anywhere but Amazon. Very curious.

I gave up on these after getting about the first 6 of them as they're over priced underwhelming designs only good for people who are either addicted to buyng steelbooks or someone who doesn't already own the normal editions. If they had full painted designs I'd be all over them. If the first 6 become valuable enough il hock them on eBay.

With that being said il still be interested in seeing a pic of the full set once they've all been released.

I'm glad they're listed on Amazon this time too because the last steelbook (Mary and the witch's flower) I got off zavvi arrived in a poly bag with 2 dents, they're hacks and have poor customer service in comparison to Amazon, seriously what kind of amateur organisation who claim to specialise in steelbooks send one out in a polylope?

Yeah, I didn't go for any of the Ghibli steelbooks, like you said they were too blah looking for me right from the start to want to bother with them.

Even worse it's a folded poster. You'd have to be a mug to shell out for this combo of tacky junk. Didn't the listing start off at £100? I know it was that price or higher when I first looked at it.

Hoping zavvi do list the new steelbooks, here in Aus we canít order from amazon uk anymore so I have no way to order them... I have all the others so far, hoping to get a complete collection of them eventually.
Is it likely that Zavvi would list them also?

I hope so, even if just to drive Amazon's prices down. They don't mention any kind of Amazon exclusivity in the product descriptions. Was hoping someone here might know more.

Only just seen this, I'm super-excited, Because I actually love these designs, and I've been wanting a Porco Rosso one so much.

Slightly worried about the packaging from Amazon, but I've had far more issues with Zavvi, and Amazon service has almost always been stellar for me (not to say they don't mess up a lot, but they usually fix their mistakes with less hassle for me than other retailers).

Saw a couple of Ghibli SBs on JBHiFi @ ~A$ 42 which are identical (of course except J-Card) to Zavvi ones- wanted to get Totoro and Howls but little skint right now as there are so many sales around this time , it's a tough decision not to double dip them at this point as these are hot sellers even with those simple designs.

I'd guess eventually other Ghibli films too will get the collectors edition set in the UK as released by Madman AU earlier this year.

For £80 you could import the JP digi pack, pick up the art book separately and still have a tenner left over.

The strike against the UK steels is that they're steel/metal coloured when they should have been white.

Iíd have liked the uniformity of white myself, but any colour would have been better than metal...

Co-signed. Love the range though have only collected the Miyazaki ones. And Porco is in my top 20 of all time, so I will no doubt be interested in triple dipping...

Only spotted the Amazon UK steelbooks last night by chance - guess I'd lapsed into the security of Zavvi emailing/texting me about new steelbooks!

I'm assuming these are the first non-Zavvi exclusives in the Studio Ghibli UK Steelbook collection but just to double check by my count the releases still waiting for a steelbook are:

1991 - Only Yesterday
1993 - Ocean Waves
1994 - Pom Poko
1999 - My Neighbors the Yamadas
2010 - Arrietty
2011 - From Up on Poppy Hill
2013 - The Wind Rises
2013 - The Tale of the Princess Kaguya
2014 - When Marnie Was There
2014 - Ronja, the Robber's Daughter

Is that correct?

These are actually not the first non-Zavvi Ghibli UK Steelbook exclusives, the first wave of releases in 2013 (Nausicaa, Totoro, Ponyo, Howl's) were (also) available elsewhere (i.e. Amazon) too.

But you are right that those you list haven't had this UK steelbook design treatment yet. I really want The Wind Rises next to complete the Miyazaki-directed features at least, but hopefully all of them eventually.
