Judging by the caps on this site and Dvd Beaver, the US and UK transfer is essentially identical. The US could be slightly darker, but from the few shots that nearly match up, the image seems to be the same in terms of detail, contrast, etc. They both have the same audio options, too. Probably the same encode.

So the Arrow, with the additional extras, looks like the way to go.

Decided to head to the UK forum after reading the DVD Beaver review. It looks like the extras are watchable on a Region A player, so we might not have to worry about PAL issues. I might still order this anyway, since it's still cheaper than the US disc, even after shipping from the UK!

Arrow has told me the version of City of the Living Dead that will be on this Blu-Ray is the uncut and uncensored version.

They also said the featurette called "Fulci in the House - The Italian Master of Splatter" will be in SD and PAL-encoded.

It's the same transfer, Identical. Arrow and Blue Underground split the costs of producing the new HD transfer but each have exclusive extras.

Is there a Pink elephant in the room?

Is it me or is the picture quality terrible?

Demiscy - i'm pleased i'm not the only person who noticed, i was starting to think i was going insane. Naturally im overjoyed that CotlD is getting blu-ray releases, but the quality of the screens on the beaver site is terrible! (and before anyone starts shouting 'source material and age' i'm not talking about that, i mean the artificial look to the print, as if someone has thrown it into photoshop, posterized it and put it on maximum sharpness) I'm underwhelmed to be honest. Add to the fact in the comparisons on the site, the Anchor Bay dvd appears to have a darker / more natural colour tone (and its not often i praise Anchor Bay) I'm not sure i'll be picking this one up. I'm going to give the Blue Media release a shot, as although everyone is saying its the same print, the screencaptures on Blu-ray.com look superior.

(also, something else about arrow which bugs me (and i'm sure many will just say im one of those who cannot be pleased) is the fact they only ALMOST give us a good thing. Interchangable cover options is something ive longed for for a long time (im a big fan of the artwork on pre-cert vhs releases) - Finally, Arrow give us that, but then ruin the cover with the huge thick white boarders and uniformed spines Now i'm looking at those cover options of City of the Living Dead and thinking "yes, the pre-cert interlght/elephant video cover is there - now if only they'd left the cool yellow font on the front and spine" this is the same reason i havent upgraded from my Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead anchor bay blu rays yet, the white arrow covers are really off-putting (and what made them think we want our movies looking identicle?) Good idea arrow, just poorly executed.

Looking forward to getting the Arrow edition. Great they have taken such care to give fans a fine array of extras.

Yeah especially since it's comparing the bluray to dvd there.

I went with the arrow release. BU obviously did some extra work afterward but it still looks good.
