Wow, .... I am curious about the type of digital copy it comes with. It does say Canada gets no 4K from the code.

If it's iTunes only that will be interesting. (It says multiple retailers but does not mention Movies Anywhere) I think it's iTunes or Vudu.

Personally I love iTunes and if you keep Vudu then it's even better because of course something is going to be on one and not the other. Vudu seems more reliable.

Pink Floyd will release High Def version of Animals in June but the high res mix from is available now on Apple Music (and maybe other streaming services.) It sounds good.

I'm amazed at how much Apple enhanced music offering ATMOS, 3D Audio and High Res Lossless. I really hope they continue this and bring high res capabilities to Apple Hardware as most of what they sell is crippled audio wise for now.

I'm ready to buy the ATV8K with High Res Audio... it just doesn't exist as of yet.

Past MGM codes have been for iTunes or VUDU, had to select only one. IIRC, same for Paramount and Lionsgate.

No Time to Die code was iTunes only but I think they got significant feedback about that idea.

‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ to Resume Filming Next Week With Letitia Wright - Hollywood Reporter 1/14

The actor, who was injured in August, will be back on set in Atlanta.

Quote:
After several setbacks, among them a major on-set injury and COVID-19 infections, Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is finally restarting production, with star Letitia Wright healed and back in Atlanta ready to resume her role as fan-favorite character Shuri.

Production was initially to have restarted last Monday but was delayed thanks to several cast and crew, Lupita Nyong’o among them, testing positive for COVID-19. Shooting is due to resume in Atlanta next week on the Ryan Coogler-directed picture for what sources say will be about four weeks.

Last August, Wright suffered an injury while filming a sequence involving a stunt rig on-location in Boston. Production then shut down in late November after the Wakanda Forever team filmed as much as they could without Wright, while she continued to heal at her home in London.

Insiders say the restart is not expected to impact the movie’s release date, which is currently Nov. 11, 2022. It had already been moved once before, from July 8, 2022.

Wakanda Forever has trudged a rocky path so far. Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman died of colon cancer in August 2020, with Marvel and the filmmakers having to reconceive the project without the beloved actor. Wright, who became a breakout star in 2018 thanks to her work as Shuri, the sister of Black Panther T’Challa, was elevated to the lead of the sequel. It is unclear if that elevated status will continue beyond this sequel into future movies or Disney+ series.

Wakanda Forever is one of three Marvel movies due out this year, the others being Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (May 6) and Thor: Love and Thunder (July 8). Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: No Way Home, which was released by Sony last month, has topped $1.54 billion globally. Coogler and Marvel are also developing a Disney+ spinoff set in the fictional country of Wakanda that will feature actress Danai Gurira.

Box Office: ‘Scream’ Scaring Off ‘Spider-Man’ With $30M-Plus Opening - Hollywood Reporter 1/15

The movie hits theaters more than 25 years after Wes Craven's slasher classic, and hopes to be the first box office success of 2022.

Quote:
Paramount’s Scream is scaring up strong business in its box office opening, earning $13.4 million on Friday from 3,664 theaters for a projected weekend debut north of $30 million, based on early projections.

If estimates bear out, the reboot of the classic horror franchise created by the late Wes Craven should gross roughly $31 million for the three-day weekend and as much as $36 million for the four-day Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend despite the omicron variant, which is dampening moviegoing overall.

Scream will have no trouble winning the holiday as billion-dollar blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home falls to No. 2 in its fifth weekend. Both films are fueled by younger males, who have been the most inclined to return to theaters.

Box Office: ‘Scream’ Dethrones ‘Spider-Man’ With $35M Holiday Debut - Hollywood Reporter 1/16

The slasher pic hopes to revive the classic horror franchise.

Quote:
Scream is winning the long Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend at the box office with a projected four-day gross of $34 million, enough to dethrone Spider-Man: No Way Home.

It’s also good enough to revive the classic slasher franchise for Paramount and Spyglass, who partnered on the reboot.

Scream‘s three-day domestic weekend gross is an estimated $30 million, a strong showing considering the ongoing omicron-fueled surge in COVID-19 cases. Final numbers will be released Tuesday; Monday estimates came in slightly lower than Sunday’s projections.

Overseas, Scream grossed $18 million from 50 markets for a global debut of $52 million against a modest $25 million production budget. The U.K. led with $3.4 million.

The film has younger moviegoers — who have been the most inclined to return to theaters — to thank for its performance. Males led all ticket buyers, though plenty of females turned out as well (53 percent versus 47 percent).

A notable 67 percent of all ticket buyers were between ages 18 and 34. Scream played best in the western U.S., the south and the northeast while slightly under-indexing in the midwest and southeast. With theaters in Ontario and Quebec closed, Canada came in at a very soft 1.5 percent of the market share on 3 percent of total locations.

Scream opens more than 25 years after the late Wes Craven’s original film hit the big screen. The new film is the fifth title in the series and a direct sequel to 2011’s Scream 4. It is the first not be directed by Craven.

Audiences gave the new Scream a B+ CinemaScore, a good grade for a slasher pic. It also drew strong exits.

Matt Bettinello-Olpin and Tyler Gillett share directing duties. This time, the Scream team sees franchise mainstays, Courteney Cox and Neve Campbell, along with Marley Shelton, David Arquette, Skeet Ulrich, Heather Matarazzo and Roger L. Jackson, reprise their roles, while newcomers include Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding, Dylan Minnette and Jack Quaid.

Scream follows a new Ghostface-masked killer who pursues a group of teenagers trying to learn about the town’s past.

Spider-Man: No Way Home fell to No. 2 in its fifth weekend with an estimated four-day haul of $26 million, including $20.8 million for the three days. Sometime on Monday, the blockbuster will become one of only four films ever to cross the $700 million mark at the domestic box office as it hits $703.9 million. And it soared past $900 million internationally to finish Sunday with astounding global haul of $1.62 billion.

Universal took the No. 2 and No. 3 spots on the domestic weekend chart with Illumination’s Sing 2 and female action spy pic The 355.

Sing 2 is projected to gross $11 million for the four-day weekend and $8.3 million for the three days as it croons past the $200 million mark globally for a worldwide tally of more than $216 million through Sunday alone.

The 355 continued to struggle in its second weekend, earning a projected $2.8 million for the four days, including $2.3 million for the three days. The film’s domestic total is just under $10 million.

The King’s Man, from 20th Century and Disney, rounded out the top five with an estimated four-day holiday gross of $3 million for a global tally north of $92 million.

Elsewhere, GK Kids’ Japanese anime offering Belle grossed roughly $2 million from more than 1,300 cinemas.

Jan. 17, 7:30 a.m. Updated with revised weekend projections.

My awesome new projector arrived in good shape.

I haven't turned it on yet.... I plan to run several tests to make sure all is well. I did install it and it seems to be ok. (The standby light is on and no warning lights yet.)

But .... I'm very excited to rewatch so many things now that I have a Projector that should do HDR very well. With my previous projector I converted all HDR to SDR which was my answer to tone mapping. HDR is still a tricky business with projectors unlike flat panels with dynamic range to spare.

So far, I'm loving it.

It came with zero hours and no sign of damage and powered on and worked right from the start.

I do have to learn the interface a bit but first experience seems to indicate it's performing properly.

I'm not sure I'll be interested in sleeping tonight. Already jumped around watching so many clips of various things.
