LOL The same happened to me. I pre-ordered it in march of 2018 with my previous credit-card. I think the release-date was supposed to be October 29th of '18. I guess better late than never.

Got a shock just now when I received a notification from Amazon.UK that my order had just shipped. I forget that I had ordered it on the 15th May 2018.

I thought the email must be spam. I checked and yes, I had pre-ordered it and forgot to cancel the order. Checked Amazon.UK and it is already out of stock. This will possibly be a Collector's Item.

I already have the Criterion Edition of Nightmare Alley, so this disc is no longer required by me, what a funny situation.

When I added this to my Amazon wish list several years ago it was supposed to be a limited edition release of 3000 copies. Is that still the case?

Can't see any indication of it still being a limited edition, although all releases are limited eventually and this is surely only getting a limited run as it's such a niche title. It's probably only getting a 4elease now because of the remake

It’ll probably be a print run of 3000/4000 to start with and if it sells particularly well (which it will) they would have reason to repress it.

It’s not a limited edition anymore, so perhaps they were put off by how Erik the Viking did (even if that was presumably the fault of whoever QC’d the disc) or maybe they just couldn’t afford to produce enough new extras to make it a fully-blown LE. Still, a booklet would’ve been nice…

It might as well be an LE at this point. I can't imagine the license (along with the recent Fox-licensed releases of "Let's Make Love", "Halls of Montezuma", "The Gunfighter", "The Fan", and the other known but unreleased ones) has too much time left and I don't believe Disney allowed SO a renewal option.

Actually, much to my surprise and disappointment, The Fan isn't Fox's version of Wilde's Lady Windermere's Fan directed by Preminger in 1949, but Tony Scott's 1996 crazed oater with Snipes and DeNiro, which is - even more to my surprise - a Columbia-Tristar release, which one might well have thought was more obviously Indicator territory.

Apropos these new (otherwise) Fox releases, they all seem to have been licenced through Hollywood Classics rather than with the studio itself; and the print size of their descriptive plot blurbs is absolutely preposterously tiny, with yawning empty space stretching away both above and below.

True, might be a shorter license than usual, but wouldn't stop them doing another print run of whatever-many-thousand before their license expires if it does sell well. If it doesn't, it'll be in sales and promotions before long. Don't get me wrong though I will pick up both Nightmare Alley and The Gunfighter before that ever happens (and probably Let's Make Love, which I considered in HMV recently but wasn't completely sold on it; I did get Halls of Montezuma and The Rare Breed instead though).

The Fan is from Sony, so no risk of that having a shorter license.

Yeah, I've not seen it in 25 years but it couldn't be further from a western.
