RIP Yaphet Kotto (Mr. Big):

Yaphet Kotto of 'Live and Let Die' dies at 81

He was the villain in my favorite Roger Moore Bond film.

I think it is likely that they will wait until No Time To Die is released on physical media to release the non-Craig Bond movies on physical 4k UHD to bring maximum attention to them. If the October theater release date holds, then hopefully that would be in the first few months of 2022.

Watched You Only Live Twice on blu two nights ago, the blu-ray is still a solid presentation, but man the classics would look good on 4K.

I was using my Xbox One S to watch the disc and it read it as having a H.264 encode at 23.99 Mbps, which doesn't match up with the info on here. Has anyone else seen this on that disc or alternatively on their Xbox?

Information readily available through Google search but

Live & Let Die
The Man With The Golden Gun
The Spy Who Loved Me
Moonraker

(technically Diamonds Are Forever is '70s Bond but that's Connery)

I am posting because I was born in 1970 so Roger Moore was my first Bond so I was looking forward to Live and Let Die. So far its been great, 1-6 were awesome, #7/Diamonds Are Forever felt a bit 1970ish and it was really not that good. Anyways then Roger Moore's first Bond came; Live and Let Die. I had a tough time paying attention to anything else besides the 1970s stuff, all the cars were big ugly boats and everything 1970 felt so different from the first 6 Bond films. I stopped the film after an ~hour and I am going to try it again just as soon and I can get into a 1970s mind-set. Yeah I was born right at 1970 but I was just a kid thru the 70s. I don't remember which it was but my first Bond film was one from the 1980s and I am ashamed to admit that I cannot remember ever seeing a James Bond Film from the 1970s . How many ~1970 vibe Bond films do I have left to go following Live and Let Die? I need a bottle of chill pills or somethin'.
Live and Let Die and The Man With the Golden Gun both have a very 70s vibe. Golden Gun a bit less so than LALD though because it takes place in Asia, so you're not seeing those big American cars and flashy blaxploitation fashions. Plus the score to Golden Gun is by John Barry whose style is more timeless than George Martin's funky music from LALD.

Once you get to The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker, they went back to making the Bond films a bit more futuristic "spy-fi" so they don't come across as being quite so tied to their time period, though the score to Spy is definitely influenced by the 1977 disco craze.

Jane Seymour would look amazing in anything from any era!

Live and Let Die was the beginning of the tendency for Bond movies to jump on to the bandwagon of other filmmaking trends in order to stay relevant.

With the success of films like Shaft and Super Fly and a source novel that dealt with Harlem mobsters, Eon decided to incorporate elements of the blaxploitation movement into the film.

Many of the supporting players (Yaphet Kotto, Gloria Hendry, Julius Harris, Earl Jolly Brown) were veterans of blaxploitation films, plus the attitudes and language, the music, the Harlem shooting locations were all influenced by those movies.

It's more of a Bond-Blax hybrid but I have no problem including Live and Let Die in the conversation when talking about blaxploitation films.

Some of those fashions are admittedly garish, but I like seeing things like that in older films, and I enjoy Live and Let Die for being such a unique film in the Bond canon.

And yes, Jane Seymour most certainly would look amazing in anything from any era but even so she was on the upper end of 1970s fashion for Live and Let Die, she was gorgeous! And I fell in love with Gloria Hendry/Rosi right from the get go and sure enough James Bond also found her quite attractive. Again this was a total breeze the second time around and I quite enjoyed myself. Thanks all, I am excited to watch the rest of Roger Moore's work as 007. I can't wait for the next one which will go in tonight, I believe its The Man with the Golden Gun.

This girl could sure wear a bikini!
Look at those upper bikini lines.>
[Show spoiler]
Man with tbe Golden Gun may be overshadowed by the other Moore ones but its really good stuff.

I'm being a little cruel when I say this, but the only thing that Roger Moore looks capable of demolishing is a cream scone. When I was a kid in the '80s, I preferred Moore to Connery on account of the gadgets looking slicker in Moore's time (the underwater car in TSWLM was my fav), but afterwards, I prefer the Bond who looked like he could take care of himself even without his gadgets, so Connery, Dalton and Craig for me.

I was looking at Bond 50 unboxing and it seems similar to the Skywalker box and the blurays look like more of a challenge to get out.

The Amazon exclusive black box used bluray cases which I think is better and it was a more compact sized box.

Playing “On Her Majesty Service” and “Live and Let Die” and both discs froze a little past the 1 hour mark.
Is there history of issues with this set or discs?
