I tried once with a Mr Keg kit. It didn't work out for me. If I had the time and extra $ needed to get good stuff, I'd try again.

Yeah, I'm glad I got a GC. If it turns out I'm not terrible at this, my best friend's dad has a bunch of high quality equipment he said he would sell me at a good price since he hasn't used any of it recently. He was clearly very into the hobby at one point though, so that should benefit me ha.

My girlfriend surprised me with tickets to the Philly Craft Beer Fest on March 2nd. Last year we went to 3 fests, including the 2011 version of this one. I'm trying to get her to agree to go to the Big Ass Beer Festival as well. She works her second job in the morning though, so if we go it will be the second session.

I am curious...

What was everyone's beer enlightenment moment that made you realize craft beers were amazing and opened your eyes to the craft beer industry?

Mine happened a few days after I turned 21. I lived in Fort Collins and went to New Belgium brewery for the first time and tried the Abbey and 1554 and a light bulb just bursted in my head and I knew I was hooked.

I think I was 22 and I had some of my brothers Arrogant Bastard at a party and I was like "What in the MOTHER F**K was that!?" The bitterness was kind of intriguing, but it was way too harsh for me at that time. Sometime during the next summer I had some Lagunitas IPA with my brother and..... well..... everything in life just made sense

The next day my brother and some friends had some Boont Amber Ale, Lost Coast Downtown Brown and a Nectar Hemp Ale and I was hooked. Took me a few months before I found this thread and dove in full power, but that first sip of Lagunitas IPA was what pushed me over the edge. Haven't looked back since

I might post pics later, but I did buy a bunch of stuff there and had my dad (who was driving a moving truck back to AZ) bring it to me.

This is what I had out there...that I can recall (brought a lot of this back in 3 boxes!... including 3 4pks of Founders Breakfast Stout!):

Founders Centennial IPA & Breakfast Stout
Arcadia Hop Rocket & Hopmouth DIPA's & Cereal Killer
Victory Hop Devil IPA & Hop Wallop DIPA
Magic Hat Encore IPA
Edmund Fitzgerald Great Lakes Porter
New Holland Imperial Hatter IIPA
Southern Tier IIPA
Shorts Huma-Lupa-Licious IPA & Hangin' Frank IIPA
High Seas IPA from Michigan Brewing
Sounds like a badass trip man!

I'm proud I opened up the good beer discussion almost 3 years ago! I think all in here have been exposed to other things in that time. I know I never would've had some great stuff without a few great trades with some good guys in here.

Went to GLBC yesterday for the BA-Blackout release. Their Rackhouse Ale is also a winner!

I am heading up to Fort Collins today to go to New Belgium, Odell's and Fort Collins Brewery. Anyone want me to keep my eye out for anything?

I am hoping to score some more Avant Peche at Odell's and a couple more bottles of Friek.

You need to hit Crooked Stave/Funkwerks while there too.

An early Pre-Game beer tasting at my house starts in 30 minutes:

I'm gonna crack an 06' Stone IRS, and a King Henry. I hope everyone else brings water

Had some Russian River Supplication the other night, whew! Forgot how tart that stuff is, great stuff though... pairs amazingly with spicy food.

One of the brews at the tasting yesterday was a New Glarus Red (or something)

Yummy Cherry-Pie-in-a-bottle!

Still living off all the beers I brought back from Michigan, but picked up some of Sierra Nevada's new Ruthless Rye IPA. Nothing great, but pretty good.
