If wondered about region coding as well. I note that Warner released a DVD version of Dam Busters in the UK. If Warner has the US distribution rights, it might insist that Optimum restrict its release to non-US markets. I suspect Optimum makes its region-coding decisions on the basis of what it can coax out of the studio that actually owns the distribution rights.

FWIW, Anchor Bay distributed the only US DVD I am aware of.

The Studio Canal releases of Ran etc in the UK have me hopeful that this might be Region free, but we'll have to wait and see.

Amazon.co.uk is showing this title as available, and I now await a full report! PQ? SQ? Region-free/Region-locked? I wanna know!

Mine is in the post, but unfortunately hasn't been delivered yet... there are a few postal strikes around the country at the moment.

... but on the plus side, I got a £0.01 refund on my pre-order . Now I just have to work out what to spend it all on .

It arrived today, and I watched it.

Having watched this movie many times on TV, the BD is a massive improvement. It has never looked as good. I will have to re-watch again

No extras.

Kristy, you're kill'n me! Now I really want it. But I have to know: Does it say anything on the back about region info, like "ABC", or "Region B"?

Region B printed on the back... I haven't yet tried it in a region A drive... I'll get back to you tomorrow on that, but I suspect it will indeed be region B.

That ain't sounding good (for us Region A folks). Hopefully you, or perhaps Pro-B, can confirm later.

Anyone know if this title might be brought out internationally on BD to accompany the theatrical release of the Peter Jackson/Christian Rivers remake (apparently to be distributed by Universal Pictures and StudioCanal)?

That'd be a deal killer for me. This is one title that would prompt me to pick up an all-region BD player (like the Oppo with the relevant mod), but I won't take the plunge if it's been purged of historic accuracy to protect our too-sensative ears.

The region is indeed locked to B, it will not play on my region A gear.

The name of the dog is original... the "N" word, totally undubbed surprisingly for these days.

Thanks for checking out the region coding! And thanks for confirming the preservation of the original soundtrack!
